SteamVR Uses Integrated Graphics
My SteamVR test says that it is using my integrated graphics and not my 960M 4GB inside.

Known problem with laptops with Optimus graphics and there is no solution except buying a new PC with a VR capable GPU.

Can you disable your igpu in bios?

The 960m won't really be good enough for VR anyway. You'll get lots of stuttering and it'll likely make you sick.

you have some options... you could disable the intel GPU in your bios. If your boot sccreen is locked behind a splash image on boot, google the f key to press on boot. It also might be the delete key. Just be careful in there, and if things dont work right after doing that remember how to undo it.

Also, make sure you are plugged in to power when trying to play - your laptop may default to integrated when not plugged in. Check your power plan settings in control panel to get some control over this.

And, as someone else has stated, the 960m is under spec. The min spec card, the 970, is actually 2.15x faster in effective speed in gaming and benchmarks. So, if you are getting stuttering in games, that's your cause.
