Vive setup freezes with 1 minute left
I just got my Vive yesterday. The setup program freezes at 1 minute left. Sometimes it gives me an error message that it cannot connect to Steam. Steam is open and running fine. I've tried to download from different browsers, tried installing more than 5 times, running as an administrator and turning off my firewall. Thank you for any help.

Maybe your USB enter in saving energy mode or using a1080TI with old drivers. Update all drivers and firmwares and check energy savers. So check your power plan. Also try a different USB, preferably 2.0
Go to hidden icons and close everything there JIC, also many antiviruses can cause connection failures and incompatibilities.

I'm not using a USB, nothing is hooked up. I'm just on the initial step of installing the basic setup software.

If I'm right (after 2 years I'm only 97% sure) Vive Setup only installs Viveport and Steamvr. Install Steam, create an account, and download SteamVR from there. Viveport is fine, but it is not needed, especially if you are in a hurry to use your Vive.

On the other hand you could run vive setup as administrator. Anyhow, install STEAM.

Interesting. Make sure everything is updated including video graphics drivers. Just plug in the vive and steam will install the drivers. Dont install vive software if this is what's causing your problem.

Or go into library, tools, install steamvr from the list.
