Vive sensor wall mounts
Basically for the next two years I'm moving to a rented property while my house is redisigned and built. The contracts quite strict and I can't drill holes in the wall, or make any for that matter. Anything too sticky is a no too becuase it could take the paint off.

I know the Vive has screw fittings which I can't use, I think it has sticky pad fittings too? How strong are these? are they single or multiple use? Will they risk any paint damage to a wall?

I know there are stands for the sensors but they aren't really viable either. New room wont be too big and.. sorry but my big af bed takes priority over vive so there's not much space to put a stand along any of the walls.

I was looking at those pull-tab things 3M do but I just wanna know how the Vive is by itself first.

The stands could be a maybe if you don't mind not using room scale

Nope. Not sure where you heard that but it most certainly does not come with sticky pads, nor is it recomended by HTC. You can do it I guess but personally I would not want to put an item that costs £120 to replace on the wall with sticky pads and the Lighthouse units need to have a firm mounting. The cant be vibrating or moving.

The following link cover various options that are more secure.

The only other thing I;ve heard of more towards the sticky pad solution is the 3M command strips but people placed pillows underneath just incase (no idea how well they work long term). Duct tape does not work, that much is for sure.

My advice is to find a solution from the link I posted rather than a sticky pad solution but I understand it may not be possible. Just accept there will be risk involved.

Perhaps a floor-to-ceiling rod. Search Amazon for:
Task Tools T74500 63 - 120 Inch Quick Support Rod

Drill into the ceiling instead. ;)

Even sticky pads? Sounds like a landlord that's too lazy to paint and spend any of that deposit money. All he has to do is keep the paint tags so he can get the exact match and just dob it over any bad areas. Probably won't get your deposit back either as there is a lot of landlord pricks out there. Hope you don't have kids...or is no kids in the contract too?

I use clamps that I fixed to the top of 2 cabinet. Search for 'Flash Clamp Mount' on Amazon. Since the lighthouse uses the same thread of a camera mount, it should be easy to find a lot of clamp alternatives. Could even find one specificaly to fit rod if you use h4tfan's suggestion.

As far as the 3M Command strips, I bet they would hold, but I have had varied results with them. I've seen them pull paint off of the walls (or makes a buble where the paint loses adheasion to the wall) when it comes time to removed them (yes, even when you remove them correctly).

You could use stands and just flip your big af bed on it's side in the corner when not sleeping. Honestly I would suggest finding a property with a reasonable landlord.
