Can you mix and match base stations?
I have a friend who has had a base station fail, and htc won't repair it anymore (they've done it once, only fixed it for like a week). If I bought him a single index base station, would it work in conjunction with the one working vive base station?

Not if he's got v1 base stations that came with the original Vive. If he has a Vive Pro with v2 base stations (it ships with both kinds) it would work mixing with Index though as they are also v2.

The v1 base stations use an IR sync pulse that the v2 does not, it instead encodes data into the laser beam IIRC, they are different modes that cannot run at the same time.

Cool, guess I just have to find parts to repair his or find a v1 station used. Thanks!
