Vive looks ..blurry?
like the visuals are really bad. when playing shooter games i can hardly see the enemy if they are more then 20 meters away. im not expecting 4k but this is horrible. iv tried changing the setting on the headset itself ( the button on the side) but the problem is its so pixilated when stuff isnt right in my face. how can i fix this? is there a way to change the resolution or something? cause it seems stuck at a very low one

There's a lot to this. First off, the vive is of the lowest resolution PC headsets currently on the market, as it's one of the originals. You'll get better resolution from the Rift S, Index, or Vive Pro. But there are still ways to try and clean up the images, First would be to make sure both your super sampling and AA are turned up. For the original vive, I found that a SS of 1.5 was pretty good, only seeing a slight increase in clarity beyond that. This can be done in many applications, or through steam vr's settings itself. Steam VR has an auto adjustment setting for SS which changes your global SS setting based on your hardware. I personally like to override this and set it to 100, and then set the resolution per game in the games themselves, and then in the steam VR settings on a game by game basis if there are no in game settings. That should help a lot... but as --RanXerox-- stated... it'll require a pretty good video card to get really high SS settings.

If fiddling with your AA settings and SS does not give you the desired results, your best bet is going with a headset with higher resolution. Which one is a totally different discussion.

since when i look at things up close they looks crisp and good but its like mthe view distance is turned down like crazy. ill try your advice, thanks man!
I have a vive pro, and I bought it specifically because I wanted far away objects to look sharper.

I never owned the standard vive beforehand, so I'm unsure of the improvement the vive pro gives.

However, what I can tell you for sure is, distance objects still aren't as sharp as I'd like them to be. It makes me think there is no way I could downgrade to a standard vive now.

depends on game and on supersamlping. set it to default 150%. if you have an exotic graphics card, then go all out. things would then become more realistic.

NO!! you have no clue. also turn off advanced supersampling filter for even more long distance clarity. I use to keep the index at 220% clarity and sure you can probably see a hint of sharpness but it wasnt worth the cost especially in project cars 2. now that game I run with all graphics at full blast.

Fine! i bumped it to 250% super sampling and it runs all my games fine. Happy? the rtx2080ti is happy with it.

I just spent two years on the CV1 thinking all headsets had that smearing god ray effect and small FOV and all steamvr games run like a pig in syrup.......then i grabbed a Vive recently on sale for a song as they are discontinued, so some good deals have been appearing here in the UK.......and it was like chalk and cheese, it has god rays but not as bad or smeared everywhere as the CV1 and the clarity over, my CV1 is just amazing. and that extra FOV, and as for my steamVR games they run as sweet as a nut......love it, glad i eventually made the move....CV1 is boxed up ready to take a trip to the second-hand shop soon. lol
