Trade In?
So i spent $800 on the original Vive with the crappy 3 in 1 cable and no Fallout 4 VR. I also just bought a $300 TPCAST adapter that adds some visual flaws to the image plus another $100 for the audio strap that should be built in. Are you guys going to offer some kind of trade in program for Vive and TPCAST or have I just learned that HTC just thinks of their early adopters as garbage from the past. I'm all for progress but im not all for continuing to get screwed over on my purchases by not just waiting a couple more months. As it stands, I love my Vive and everything it's capable of, but not a fan of HTC or Valve for that matter and am probably going to switch to WMR.

I paid 600$ for the launch model of the PS3! Over a year later they came out with a new model.
Will Sony let me trade in my older PS3 model for a new one? If not, they are just greedy bastards!

Wait... No, that's not how this works. That's not how any of this works.

I can got to a Microsoft Store with an xbox 360 right now and get money towards a ONE X, that is completely how it works. Im not asking for a free device, I'm obviously asking for a discount.

You get what, 30$ on a trade in? Is 30$ off the new Vive Pro really gonna make or break your decision?
I'd love a discount/trade in, but the 30$ would be what, shipping and handling? "Yes! Because of the trade in I didn't have to pay for S&H!"

yes, $5, $30, $100, anything would be nice to show that they at least care, and maybe you have a great career but $30 isn't just pocket money to me.

you know what trade in means, right? they take away completely your device and give you a discount. do you really need that 30$ discount when u can sell your used vive on ebay for 400$ or smth.

Nothing has been announced regarding trade ins or discounts for the Vive Pro. Heck, even pricing hasn't been announced.

Personally I doubt they'll have a trade in option, but we'll have to wait and see.

That's just speculation. There has been no official announcement yet.

Best not treat rumor as fact.

I thought the presentation said there is an "Upgrade Kit" for Vive 1 owners in Quarter 1. So I assume that means you can just get the headset at a discount if you can proove you have a Vive. I would think around $500 for their Pro latest model. Then in Quarter 2 everybody else can buy the bundle which I will assume will cost $700 to $800 and include Knuckles + Lighthouse 2. Then I expect the original Vive to drop to $400 to be in line with all the others. At this point the Rift will drop to $300.

I could go and find the slides of the presentation to confirm the dates but the prices I put are predictions.

All they have said is that the Vive Pro headset will be available stand-alone in Q1 and be usable with the existing base stations and controllers. They haven't said anything about trade-ins or discounts.

Nobody owes you anything. You got what you paid for. Just because one manufaturer offers a trade in / trade up program does not mean all do or should offer it.

Not saying it wouldnt be nice if HTC did offer such a thing but where on earth does this entitlement come from?

They said there was an "upgrade kit", whatever "kit" means is anybodys guess though.

Probably includes a new link box + cables, since the VP reportedly uses DisplayPort 1.2 instead of HDMI.
