I don't think you understood. He's saying he can't be lazy because he actually put in more work.
My daughter fell face first when she thought she could hold on to something virtual, big bang, lots of tears but the headset still worked.
For controllers, I've seen them hit the walls and floor several times. Twice it was hard enough to seperate the case between the top ring part and the bottom that you hold. One of those times it was bent so far that the two ribbon cables inside had detached. In both cases I had to open up the controller and secure the cables before it would work again.
The controller trackpad is horrible however, it will often stop working at the 2 or 3 o'clock position. This is due to the little rubber disk under the trackpad either dislodging or having a depression. I've had to fix all four of our controllers a number of times because of the way they designed it. I've addressed it with Vive support a few times and they tell me their engineers are working on a solution. They couldn't tell me if that meant for existing users or just up and coming controllers...
