Sennheiser Game Zero headphones, come with 2 cables?
Looking to get these but I thought it had a 3m long cable, almost 10 feet. The spec sheet shows it comes with 2 cables and one is only about 4 foot long.Ive seen videos of people opening the package and there is a smaller cable in there that only has one male end, maybe that is audio only and doesnt have a mic plug? The long plug is attatched to the headphones and has two male ends.

Does that long plug pull out of the headphones and then you can plug in the shorter cord with just the one plug? I havent been able to find any answers.https://en-us.sennheiser.com/global-downloads/file/6703/FS_GAME_ONE.pdf

Thanks

I am not completely sure, but I think that the Vive's audio connector does not have a mic, it is only for headsets. So you should use the Vive's microphone or wireless or USB headset with mic.

I picked up the headset and it does have two sets of plugs, The 10 foot cable ends in 2 jacks (microphone and then audio). The one I will use has all 3 left/right/mic on the one jack The cord is about 3 feet long rather than the big long 10 footer. I am going to plug that into the Vive's headphone cord on the headset and then just use the Vive's microphone.

There are 2 solutions (both worked for me) if you want to use the mic on your senhisers.

1) Run a cable to the headset for the mic. This can be done surprisingly neatly if you do it right and is what I do.

First off you need 2 3.5 male to female extensions cables that are pretty cheap. One at 1m the other at about 4.5m

Plug the shorter extension cable into your 3.5 mic port on your PC and attach the tape the other end to your link box (this keeps the break out feature availbe in a worse case senario). Then attach the longer 3.5 extnsion cable to the 3 in 1 with cable ties with the female end connexted at the Vive end. Plug the male end into the new socket you've created next to the break out box.
Adjust Steam VR settings to recognise your headphones mic.

Voila..you can now use your headphones to their full advantage.

2) Aquire the Vive USB extension cable. Purchase a USB to dual 3.5 adaper. Plug in headphone and adjust settings in SteamVR.

In case 1, if you're headphones have all 3 left/right/mic on the one jack you'll need to spilt it back to 2 signals.

In case 2, you'll need to buy an approriate USB splitter with a single left/right/mic port the one adapter.

I dont think I will worry about trying to use it since the Vive has its own. unless the quality is really crappy I will probably just use that. Thanks for the info though and I will use that if I decide on using the mic on the headphones.

I still dont have mine hooked up becuase I am waiting for the hardware to mount the base units on light poles. It should be here soon though. I havent tested the sennhiesers on the VIve then. i am a bit worried they wont get loud enough, they are 50 ohms. The old zeros were 150 ohm though and I saw many reports those needed a decent amp to drive. These are 50 ohm, but that is still a bit more than most headphones. I tested them running off of my soundblaster card and they sound great on that.

I wonder if the Vive has some kind of built in amp on it for the audio?

I hope it is able to drive them, otherwise Ill have to return them. I like the sound on them when playing them through the soundblaster. Just not sure how it is going to be through the Vive.

Do you have Sennheisers that are 50 ohm?

Your senhisers will be fine and the mic on the Vive is ok.

Thanks. I know they lowered the resistance to 50 ohms for 150 because a lot of folks wanted to use them with a PC without having an audio card. I figured it would be ok but I am paranoid!

Any opinions on where to set my pc at in relationship to the play area? I have an area that is about 26X8 that I can use. RIght now I have the PC set up at the end of the room near the wall, but since the cord is only about 15 feet long I wont be able to reach across the room. I can move the computer to the center of the room by the wall and that way I can reach both sides of the long room. I am thinking though that it might make it more likely for me to have problems moving around the cord that way. What do you think?

Ive seen guys on here with rooms as big as 20x20 and 30x20 and they say the light houses track just fine..I am hoping that is the case. Id like a big play area.
