how can i get rid of smudges and streaks on the lenses?
i cleaned my vive with the included cloth, but there are still some smudges left and i noticed that (when wearing the vive) it also looks a bit streaked (like the right glas from those glasses in the picture: http://www.cbetternow.com/images/glasses/smudge-flash.jpg )

the cleaning cloth that came with the vive can't get them away, this happened after cleaning the lenses one time because they became a bit dusty.

Little thing to add: i see the streaks when wearing the headset and looking at white text on a black background the most (like the big steamvr home logo panel)

Get some optical lens wipes. They're like wet wipes but used to clean camera lenses or a pair glasses. I've used them with no isses.

i'm basically seeing this, it's quite noticable: http://doc-ok.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/GlareTest-8mm-1.jpg

What you are seeing is lens glare. There's nothing you can do about that since it's a consequence of the lens design.

ah, oke, thanks for the info, i thought i damaged my lenses already, cause it was quite noticable, literly cleaned the lenses when i installed the vive, cause it was already out of the box for a few days, just didn't have time to set it up.

Center the lenses with your own eyes as much as you can. And use the lateral knob to adjust your interpupillary distance. It will help a lot.

Changin the ipd around to every possible position didn't seem to help.
Could it also have something to do with how close i wear my headset to my eyes?

It never goes away, but:
- measure your IPR. Don't just guess or trial and error.
- center your headset perfectly and put it on tight.

I wear glasses, so I instantly know if it is not centered, because it becomes blurry and the lens glare intensifies. But I'm sure people without glasses can judge how centered it is.

Both of these will reduce your glare to the minimum possible. The rest is unavoidable with this kind of Fresnel lenses.

Heck, if I focus, I can see the concentric rings of the lenses. Minimize the effects trough configuration and with time you will forget about it.

i have set the ipr correctly now, it's less now, still there but not as intense, the only thing thats left i think is the effect caused by how the lenses work, so i'm gonna have to deal with it. (if i'm used to stuff being there i can easily ignore them, no matter how intense or distracting it is.)
