That one bothered me.
Total (binocular) field of view according to the Oculus SDK is 87.96° on the Rift. The total, binocular field of view on the Vive is 110°. It's a pretty noticeable improvement on the Vive, but you still are very aware of the black space on the sides and top.
Pimax's new "8k" headset is supposed to improve this significantly, with an increased vertical FoV, and pushing the horizontal FoV to 200°.
VR needs more horizontal FOV and the Pimax being 8k seems strange as there is no gpu on the market that could push 8k on a game like the witcher 3 if you were playing it in VR.
The OR and OSVR are just as limited as the Vive in the FOV department (Current gen is stuck on 110 fov).. I find the 110 fov to be annoying when I play FPSes like TF2 in VR. I end up moving my head side to side too much.
Do you do anything but complain?
Wah wah, I want more FOV.
Wah wah, if you give me more FOV my toys aren't good enough.
Good lord I pity your wife.
VRManic is back I see.
I take issue with the current state of VR. It's lacking in a lot of areas that you don't really realize until you use it. I pity you. It is you that lies to yourself about how wonderful the Vive is. It would have a big advantage in action & adverture games, but the FOV is holding it back. Driving a car in VR requires you to turn your head way too much and the same is true with FPSes.
So why are you even here? Go cry in a corner somewhere and let the adults talk.
My being here upsets you and that makes me happy.
It just feels that way to you because I'm living rent free in your head.
