Constantly flickering lights?

I just so a video of a famous youtuber with a red tie and thought, this looks so cheesy I need to have it. The only thing putting me off is, in the video the lights were constantly flickering. This usually results in a headache. Is it as bad as the youtube video shows or someone made other experiences?
