Controller Support
Does this game have controller support? Also are characters all named story members like a Fire Emblem or can you recruit and train your own custom soldiers?

Controller support is not mentioned on the store page so I don't think so. I would check but Kickstarter backers haven't received Steam keys yet... But yeah all games released on Steam these days should strive to have controller (xinput) support if the game is suited for it. I often play in Big Picture Mode so it's something i'm always checking with new games coming out.

All characters are uniques a la Fire Emblem.

Controller support has been a wish list item for me for a while, but it hasn't been a top priority. If there's enough demand, though I can look into making that happen in the next few months. :)

I'd also like to see controller support. It's the one thing keeping me from buying it.

Also, it would be nice if you have a zoom mode to make it look like the video. The video looks great, but the screenshots are in a different resolution and don't look as good.

For me a game inspired in Fire Emblem without controller support is something annoying and prevents me to play the game. Intelligent Systems demonstrates in Path of Radiance that a layout similar to a xinput device will always work more efficiently that a mouse control fatiguing the hand in longer play sessions. When an user interface iis well constructed, a controller will always be more efficient to select units. You push a button quickly to interchange units, instead of moving a cursor all of the screen. Not a single strategic game with mouse control works better that a well designed modern SRPG made in Japan. The problem comes when the idea of controller support is the lazy design option of mapping the cursor movement to a stick.

Telepath Tactics is one of the more interesting games made in the genre, and puts a lot of new ideas in the table. But every time that I come to the store page and see that the controller support has not been implemented yet, prevents me to buy the game.

Your target public for this game it's not the player of Counterstrike none the player of 4X strategy games, used to a mouse.

It's the player that has put hundred of hours in games like Disgaea, Fire Emblem or the Sting SRPG classics. All of these, games that were designed with a console controller in mind. Because after decades of refinements in the design of its interfaces, works much better.

Understood. I've been wrapped up trying to deal with other issues, which has prevented me from implementing this so far.

For now, if you prefer hitting buttons in lieu of simply moving a mouse pointer and clicking, the game has hotkeys: for instance, you can use the space button (or shift + space) to change units. It's not the same as a gamepad, I know, but it's definitely faster than just using a mouse.

A full list of hotkeys can be found on page 5 of the manual: http://www.sinisterdesign.net/Downloads/Telepath%20Tactics%20Manual.pdf

I want to bump this tread. I love playing games on my Alienware Alpha on the couch and being able to play TT there would be awesome. Make sure when controller support is added it gets the official controller icon in Steam Big Picture Mode.

Is controller support still being considered for a future update?
