Are you playing the Win PC, Mac or Linux ver?
What are your system specs (graphic card, OS, etc)?
What are you doing when this message appears? Is it as soon as you click on play in the steam library? Is it when you try to start a new game? Any additional details you can provide would be appreciated. Thank you.

Do you have Episode 1 and 2?
Try this, if you have both:
I uninstall episode 2 and then i can start episode 1.
To uninstall go to the game in the library and remove the hooklet by episode 2.
Then episode 1 are updating automatically. I start episode 1 and later reinstall
the episode 2. I hope you understand my bad english. :D
Read your other thread but as this one has more info posting here: did you try verifying game cache? Right click on the game in your Steam Libary->Properties->Local Files->Verify game integrity. It'll help identify if there are corrupted files and if yes redownload those, might help.
