Cobalt Developments
Hello,
I'm making this post because the vast majority of Cobalt's active community lives on the Discord server[discord.gg] (if you're looking for games, that's your best bet; ping the @COBALT_PC role and feel free to join it yourself), and I figured that a consolidated post here would be good for any developments, if I remember to update this post. I'm going to try and unofficially answer some questions to the best of my knowledge, as well as mention any other big updates for anybody not in the loop.

Will Cobalt be going on sale any time soon? Why can't Australians buy the game anymore?
For the former, I'm not Oxeye, but A: I doubt it, and B: if it does, I don't know if it'll be any time soon; for what it's worth, Cobalt's price was already discounted permanently after the release of Cobalt WASD (seen on SteamDB's price history for the game[steamdb.info]) and Cobalt WASD was made free, permanently, in 2020.
As for why Australians cannot purchase the game, if memory serves it's an issue between Australian dollar and Swedish kronor conversion; user Qetchop on the Discord has mentioned you can set your "Steam country" to US and changing your currency type, but I'm not sure if this works.

Will Cobalt be updated any time soon?
Cobalt has indeed not been updated in a while, but it's actually been sooner than 2018; in January of 2021, thewreck pushed a bugfix update (of which the changelog was only specified in the Discord server). Lamentably, the achievement bugs present since 2018 were not fixed (I think he didn't realise they were in there until he was finished with that burst; sorry vraket), but bugs such as weapon upgrades in Story Mode randomly reverting were either fixed or most likely fixed. If you're curious, you can use SteamDB's Cobalt page[steamdb.info] to keep track of any updates pushed to the game.

Fixed rare crash with tile action for opening doors.
Vendors in classic survival no longer crash.
Unused gamemode antivirus no longer crashes, but it is still quite useless
Fixed rare player celebration crash
Fixed rare fx crash
Fixed rare network code related crash
Fixed bug where removing a light enchancher crashes the game (might also fix other rare crashes round destroying items which dont have sprites)
Fixed desert base middle spawn not being able to fit a predator.
Fixed nano dispenser / healing station getting stuck in metalfaces when thrown at a certain angle.
Fixed portable sentries trying to deploy against corners resulting in sliding sentries.
Now attached wall sentries are destroyed if their attached tile is destroyed.
Added english translation for silenced slugger projectile.
Fixed bug where you had to equip an item in story mode first before you could unequip it.
Fixed bug causing nano-dispenser / healing station to heal forever when dealing with radiation.
Fixed bug causing you to not be able to pickup portable sentries after they failed to attach.

WASD specific:
Orbit, solidified invisible walls around shuttle ship.
Orbit, added some more space to the killzone outside plant site.
You can no longer plant the bomb on physics activated tiles.

Maybe fixes:
Maybe fixed emote crash in map editor. Could not reproduce.
Maybe fixed story save bug where level 2 upgrades would sometimes revert. I could reproduce it randomly, did some possible fixes, can no longer reproduce it randomly, but since the exact cause was never pin-pointed, the fix is only a maybe.

There was also a smaller update for Cobalt WASD before:
v267
WASD Specific:
Fixed online party crash for clients.
Updated discord link.

Cobalt's wiki seems abandoned; is it?
The original Cobalt wiki was built on Gamepedia starting back in ~2011 or so. Gamepedia was sold to Fandom, and it's starting to become fairly agreed upon that Fandom isn't really desirable for wikis. We also agree, and user catdotjs has decided to build a newer, better wiki encompassing Cobalt as well as Oxeye's other properties (Cobalt WASD, Harvest: Massive Encounter, etc.); once the project's really taken off, I'm happy to post the link to the new site here. Given it's still in its infancy, I'll hold off from that for now. Here it is![oxeyewiki.org] If need be, I'll make edits to the original wiki, but it's always been a mess, and Fandom just downright makes it unpleasant to work with.

Can I modify Cobalt beyond the modding API yet?
Because of the way Cobalt's filesystem works, not for the base game, but you can modify the editor. User Creep has made an extensive modding toolkit named Alloy[github.com] for this purpose. The editor's openness to modding also means you can enable the Adventure editor. I've posted a guide to doing so both on Steam and on my own site, The Cobalt Archive;[sites.google.com] in this time, the game's files have been mostly decompiled, meaning we have the game's maps and 4 reconstructed adventure mode chapters so far (the last 3 are just tedious to rebuild due to the way they were set up).

Happy rolling.
