Space Beast Terror Fright

Super Scary Astro Creeps (update feedback)
At first, it was fun and games, saying "Aawh, aren't you just adorable?" when the first Astro Creeps were implemented, they even used me as a panic speed boost so I can jog faster from one place to another from time to time at a risk of vision loss.

And now...

They're geniunely the most f**ked terrifying little monsters I have ever seen.

As an adition, they made me jump out of my seat... TWICE.

You can only imagine me as one of the most straight forward types where everything is fun and games with out even a slightest sign of fear or panic (mostly), but these MONSTERS break that almost instantly upon first contact since this update.

So congratulations Nornware, you did it again, you scared another very hard to break individual with your whole redesign of the creeps.

I would really like to say these things have geniunely became if not the most frightening things I had ever seen, and I am very happy as to how that turned out, they make me wish not to run down a straight corridor and instead move a bit more carefully having to clear things out before having a horde of the come right at me.

And the horror approaching static actually really makes it the most terrifying, as you then know that there's something coming your way and you just shout to yourself "WHERE IS IT, WHERE IS IT!?", and quite honestly, its one of those that are in my "I'm geniunely afraid of this" list, as if this game wasn't scary enough without it... oh wait...

In any case, since the new noise is a thing, and the astro creeps are seemingly more agressive, the whole "they're coming right towards you" noise is a really good touch, but it doesn't seem to do much but make a player rapidly turn at every direction trying to figure out where the damn thing is coming from, and yes, you guessed it, I'm gonna ask an obvious question.

When the heck are we going to get directional audio.

Because apparently audio only changes volume based on distance, but it always sounds as if its right in front of you, and that brings MANY people to confusion and most certainly unavoidable death, because they never know where the damn thing is so they can't defend themselves from it. If directional audio was implemented, it would overall increase the players awareness and give them a fair chance to fight against whatever when they don't have a motion tracker to rely on (except the distance tracker, that thing is next to useless and can only tell you that there's either a thing right behind a door/wall or just plain right next to you, but it doesn't help either way because before you even realize you're dead anyways), and would probably make the game a tad "easier" for everyone, and maybe, just maybe have people rely less on the full motion tracker (as stated in one of the threads before).

All in all, the updates haven't disappointed me yet, and I'm still looking forward to more of them. Keep 'em coming Nornware!

Also I don't have much to talk about in regards to the new blood textures and such as I wasn't paying much attention to them, maybe make an edit in that regard after I play a few games, idunno, although I think they seem pretty cool so far.

Promised edit:

As I had mentioned earlier, I was going to make an edit in regard to the new effects and blood textures, yes, I find them really swell and good, the smoking gibs, sizzles, blood drips are a really nice touch and give it quite a good asthetic, I'm not gonna lie! Now what we need is blood to cover the visor and we're set! Although I do somewhat think I'm gonna miss the old red blood for the aliens, so perhaps add something like a setting to the color of alien blood or maybe add a "randomizer" that chooses what kind of blood the alien species will have? Such as the acid or regular blood, it would be quite interesting, and would make it appealing seeing as some would think you're fighting a "different" species of aliens, it would be interesting, really. As for the blood drips, they seeeeeem to be a bit delaying wih the whole dripping part, the fact they're forming a whole line seems rather obscuring and perhaps a bit annoying, maybe add a form of transparency or make the dripping a bit faster, or maybe just lower the amount of lines that occur, so that it doesn't all appear at the same time just covering the whole screen, brr. But in any case, I overall still like what was made, and really gives a more gory feeling to it, which I again really like.

Thanks for the feedback.

I agree that the lack of positional audio (panning) has been brought into focus by this, it has been mentioned by others as well.

Optional blood color and / or randomized blood could potentially be done.

The drips could probably use some work too, I understand what you mean about the initial cascade being a bit synchronized. The idea was to have it drip more at the beginning and then peter out, I'm sure it could be made better than it is.

I'm also digging the extra scariness of those little astro bastards. I mean, I hate them, but in a good way.

Update 20 has some excellent improvements, There's really nothing about this game I don't like. Sure, I have a wishlist of improvements, but it's a solid game as is.

Thanks again, Nornware!
