Unlike Trine 2: Complete Story, Trine only features local co-op. This means that he or she needs to be near you. Alternatively, you could use Tunngle[www.tunngle.net] to connect with your friend.

ah no local network means Lan ,
Lan = Local area network which means you can play it from different pc's as someone hosts and the other joins
Local Co-op = You both have to be On the Same PC playing it ,
player1 keyboard+mouse
player2 gamecontroller or you both can use controllers

So Summing it all up Trine 1 Is played On the same Pc only

Sorry for the confusion, everyone. There's no LAN in Trine, so the Tunngle thing I suggested won't work. If you want multiplayer, Trine 2 is the way to go .
