Trine not detecting resolution properly
Trine is set to play at 1080p settings however it is stretching itself across my entire desktop at 3840x1080 which makes it mostly unplayable.

When you press play Trine 2 from steam, you will get a pop-up. From there you could select the screen resolution and refresh rate. Select which is the best option for you.

Hope this helped you out.

If in launcher there will be no resolution which you need you can force one by editing options.txt file located in:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Trine2\

@securop, i've selected 1920x1080, yet the game is stretched to 3840x1080 across both monitors.

@SpectatorX, thanks for the path info but I run linux, I won't give M$ a dime, i'll check out the steam directory for that file.

@SpectatorX, there is no options.txt file that i can find.

What happens when you press the "windows button + P", to make it one screen, you also get the same issue?

Here you can find some more info about linux version:
http://www.trine2.com/help/faq/#linux
There is a path to options.txt file.

Fullscreen fix
A user reports: "You can also install CompizConfig Settings Manager (CCSM), and select the option Legacy Fullscreen Support under Utility->Workarounds."

@SpectatorX i don't use compiz for a window manager, so there's nothing in this faq that helps me... compiz is being replaced and is considered -Dead- as a project.

This is more of an issue that the developers need to fix as they are determining the size of my screen incorrectly, or, not following their own configuation rules at program init.... if you put the screen into 1920x1080 it goes there, unless you're using some stupid method to start your program. (most windows programmers are guilty of doing this)

Did you find options.txt file?
Securop Jan 8, 2015 @ 11:46am
Good luck then... haha
MetaPhaze Jan 8, 2015 @ 1:16pm
SpectatorX, yes, it was in ~/.frozenbyte/trine2/ thanks a bunch... also I got it to work with max settings in windowed mode without a titlebar so it looks full screen without needing to press anything to use the mouse with other applications or switch between windows / desktops

How did you solve your problem? By editing options.txt file? You know, this kind of info could be useful to other people who will be googling for it for sleepless nights and days ;-)

This is almost always "solved" by running the game in windowed mode. To make the windowed mode more like fullscreen, you can edit these properties in the options.txt file ( .frozenbyte/trine2/ in the user home dir):
setOption(renderingModule, "Windowed", false)
setOption(renderingModule, "WindowTitleBar", true)
If you set the resolution to your desktop resolution, then the game should play almost as if in fullscreen. You could also set the MaximizeWindow property to true and use a lower resolution (this has not been extensively tested however).

I don't like borders and title bars on my windows so i set

setOption(renderingModule, "WindowTitleBar", false)

this makes a full screen window look like full screen.

diasble your side monitors,,,,,
MetaPhaze Feb 6, 2015 @ 12:08pm
no thanks, wrong answer, unlike you I do multiple things at once... sometimes I play two games a the same time... sometimes 3, mostly multiplayer games... some people don't think it's possible but then again they have never watched me actually play 3 games at the same time

I need all of my displays going at the same time
