Goblin Menace is a DLC that adds more levels and skills to the game. If you're interested in it you can buy it by purchasing the Trine 2: Complete Story Upgrade from the Trine 2's Steam Store page.
If you already own Goblin Menace, it's impossible to buy it — the fact that you own it should read in your shopping cart while trying to complete the purchase. You can read more about the DLC and other ways about how to tell do you have it through here.[trine2.com]
I hope this was helpful. Let me know if you have any other questions about this.
Cheers!
Did you check do you actually have the DLC now?
One way to check this is from your Steam Library by right-clicking on Trine 2 → choose Properties → navigate to the DLC tab → If you see Goblin Menace DLC listed there you have it. If you don't have the DLC tab or Goblin Menace DLC listed there, you don't have it and you'd need to buy the Upgrade to play it.
If you played the DLC before, but it seems to be gone now or you really can't just access it, even though Steam would indicate that you have it — there unfortunately isn't anything I can do. If this is what happened I recommend you to contact Steam Support about this.
I don't know if this is related but, please also note that if you're trying to play an Online Multiplayer game with a friend who doesn't have the DLC, they can't access the DLC levels. And yes, you have to have completed the game to play the DLC's extra levels.
Let me know if you have any questions about this.
Cheers!
if that is the case that is DELIBERATELY misleading and underhanded when you buy the game. seems like I've only bought HALF a game. to sell something that isn't as it is described I'm thinking that that must be a breach of australian consumer law. :|
hopefully i'm wrong. thanks in advance for your reply
Sorry about this. Hopefully this will help you to understand the situation.
Goblin Menace is a DLC that includes both new levels and new abilities for the characters. The abilities should be available for use in the base game, if you have enough skill points for them, only the levels are locked until you complete the base game.
Only if you buy the Upgrade after completing the game, you have to play the last level again to unlock the Goblin Menace levels. Otherwise there is no need to play the game again. The Goblin Menace levels start straight after finishing the last level.
The confusion is because Trine 2 and Goblin Menace DLC were merged under the same title last year, and they became Trine 2: Complete Story. That name, by mistake, replaced plain Trine 2 as well. So now everything is called Complete Story, regardless of if you actually own the DLC or not. New buyers have everything listed what they are buying, but sometimes old owners are confused do they have the DLC or not.
In other words, if you bought the game when it was already named Trine 2: Complete Story, you own the whole package, Goblin Menace included. However, if you bought just the plain Trine 2, you will still have to buy the Goblin Menace DLC to be able to play it. If you're interested in it, it's sold under the name Trine 2: Complete Story Upgrade on Trine 2's Steam Store page.
If you're unsure when you bought the game, you can check do you have the DLC or not by following these instructions:
There has also been rare and strange issues that some players have had the DLC bought but it was not activated — they had it listed in their DLC tab, but their game was just missing the content. If this happens, you should contact Steam Support as it's a problem with loading already owned content.
Let me know if you have any other questions about this and sorry for any possible inconvenience this might have caused.
Cheers!
These new skills were added later, when Goblin Menace became available. So, you probably played the game before this.
Let me know if you have any other questions about this. Cheers!
I have all DLC, including the Goblin Menace... I have Goblin Menace :)
So there is no solution ? do I have to pass the all game again to get my talents back?
btw guys, congrats for the game, is f**king awesomeeee!! hahaha
Thank you for your support. :)
I don't think we have heard about this kind of issue before. Above conversation was probably about a different issue. So, could you tell more about this?
Firstly, could you tell what operating system you're using? What is your game's version number? The version number is visible in the Main Menu when starting the game. Don't forget to tell the build number too.
What do you mean by ”all my levels disappeared”? Were they locked in the level selection menu or something else? You could maybe take a picture of the issue? What exactly happened to your skills in the game?
Are you sure you have the correct save slot selected? It can be changed through the game's level selection menu (select the option Single Player from the Main Menu, then choose change save slot). If you are sure it's the correct one, this sounds like your save file could be corrupted, which probably can't be fixed. :( Though you could try to verify the game cache, in case the problem is with the game's local files, by following the instructions below
right-click on Trine 2 in your Steam Library → click on properties → go to the local files-tab → press the button to ”VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME CACHE...”
You could also try to change the save slot and then change back to the current one. Does this make any difference? If above doesn't help I'll try to think something else and possibly forward this to our specialist. We probably could also send you another save file if you want, so you don't have to play the whole game again. Just email us to Support[at]Frozenbyte[dot]com if this sounds good, so we know where to send it. Please mention this thread and your username in your email, so we know it's about the same issue.
Please also check that you have the Steam Cloud synchronization on.
Let me know how it goes! Cheers!
If you think there is a bug in the game, could you tell more about this? It's okay if you don't want to get back to the game, but yes if there is a bug we'll look into it.
You can post about the issue in the Steam Community Forums or send us email to Support[at]Frozenbyte[dot]com. Please report the bug in detail and feel free to add pictures if they help to explain the problem.
Cheers! :)

Yes, at the selection level menu, all the levels are locked... I took a picture:

My Skills: I got 0 skills (0 points of talents), I took a Picture (in this pic I am at the begining of the DLC)

I was using only one save slot, I took a picture:

Finally I verified the ingreity of game cache, and it downloaded one file, but didint fix the problem :( . . .
If theres nothing we can do, I'll be grateful if you could send me a new save file, with instructions to use it (cause I wouldn't know how to use it), I'll wait for your answer, and depending on what you tell me I'll e-mail you asking for this file .
Thank you so much
Yes, this would sound like your save file has been corrupted somehow, and unfortunately there is no way to recover it. :(
We should be able to send you a save file so yes, please email us! Would you mind also sending us your save file? You don't have to, but it might be helpful when looking into this. You can find instructions about where to find the save files from below. Please email us to Support[at]Frozenbyte[dot]com, please also mention this thread and your username in your message so we know it's you.
The save files are located in the following folder:
If you only have used one Steam user on your computer, there is only one folder in the userdata folder, but in case there is many here is an example of how to find out your ACCOUNT ID number.
Newest version of your save slot should be enough, but you can just send the whole content of the folder. You can just attach the files to your email.
Sorry for the inconvenience. We are waiting to hear from you!
Sorry if you find this unfair. The Upgrade is an extra content we have released for the game, which adds new skills and levels to the game. The Upgrade was added to the base game last year, so it's now included for new buyers. So, no one got it for free.
You can still play the earlier levels that are included in the base game with your friends, but yes you need the buy the Upgrade to play the extra levels.
Let me know if you have any other questions about this.
