To troubleshoot a bit though, just to make sure, go to Steam big picture mode, then go to Settings > Controller Settings, and make sure you have Playstation Configuration support enabled. If that doesn't help, try the generic gamepad support to see if that helps, but if not I'd suggest mainly having the playstation one enabled if you're only using PS controllers.
If that doesn't already help, you can try enabling multiple keyboards and mice in the controller settings. Additionally, you should be able to then configure the controls separately for that. If you need to manually map the controls for your controller, you can {LINK REMOVED} use this as guide.
It's a bit old, but hopefully it still helps!
Let me know if anything works! If keyboard + controller fails, at least 2 controllers would hopefully work. Apologies for the inconvenience.
This worked! Thank you for taking your time to reply :)
On a side note, my problem seems to be laying somewhere deeper as the same thing occurs for other games as well (R2/L2 being always "activated"). However, remapping in-game controls without those two worked like a charm.
Sorry to have troubled you! Hope you have a great new year
