Please Help, I want to play
I haven't been able to load the game, even once, since buying it for myself and two friends, who both installed and played without issue.

I've made numerous changes, verified the game cache, uninstalled and reinstalled it.

I've made sure that DirectX is installed in it's most recent format.

I've checked to see if I'm running MSI Afterburner or Rivatuner (I am not).

I've ensured that the firewall is off while the game is downloading.

I've ensured that the correct Windows Media Package is installed based on other research that pointed to that as a potential solution.

None of the above solutions have worked. It's kinda sad to be the guy who gifts a game to your friends only to have that game not work for you.

I seriously doubt Capcom is doing anything to fix these persistent issues years later, but if anyone has some additional troubleshooting help, please let me know.

Well, can I ask you to share your specs? That might give me an idea on where to start.
As far as I know, Fullscreen doens't work for everybody, have you tried to launch it windowed? You can put "-windowed" on the launch options in Steam.

Of course, I don't have a complete list of the components in my PC but I can effectively guarantee it's not because of outdated tech.

I attempted using -windowed and -fullscreen on the launch options but neither made a difference.

i9700k CPU
RTX 3070 GPU
Samsung Evo Solid State Drive
32GB of Ripjaw DDR4 Ram

I click 'play' and the game loads a black window which closes two seconds later.

Steam indicates when I try to verify game cache that there is a missing file, and it will attempt to reacquire. But then the issue persists, I verify again, and it fails to download again.

Endless loop of sadness.

Okay, the Rig is more than fine. Last time something like that happened to me, I had to literally uninstall Steam and install it again along with the games I had installed at the time. It was the only solution for that game back then. I know it sounds dumb, but have you tried that?

Edit: Another issue the game sometimes has, is the black screen on start-up with no crashing. You just have to press buttons or keys to skip that and it will get you to the much more visible title screen.

Oooof. Uninstalling steam and reinstalling all my games.

Better solution than a full PC reformat, so I'll give it a shot. Appreciate the tips.

Uninstalled Steam, deleted all associated files, and re-installed fresh.

Re-installed UMvC3, same exact issue. Opens a large black screen, immediately crashes.

Hmmm, i'll leave a link here to another post with a similar issue as you. See if it works for you.

Yeah I appreciate it but that was among the first things I tried. Oh well, not everything works out in life.

I think I've found a way to make it work...

try to find this directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010

then run the DXSETUP.exe manually

after that.. start the game.. it worked for me

You referenced one of the only solves that I couldn't find and helped me find the correct path to the DXSETUP.exe file, unfortunately that still didn't work for me. :/

Really appreciate all the effort, it's so bizarre it's this hard to get a relatively modern game installed.
What is your screen resolution of your monitor?
Also I just read another comment
This might help if your using big picture

I tried shifting to another resolution but no dice.
What about an actual 1080P monitor?
