Is UMvC3 worth it anymore?

Hi I am looking into getting either UMvC3 or MvCI
I'm torn because I feel like I should be looking into infinite but the facts are UMvC3 is cheaper and possesses a larger cast

If I get into marvel vs capcom I want to play competitively so I would like to know which game has the living competitve community right now

It's UMvC3 and or focus on Skullgirls and Smash for Wii U

MVC2 is the only one worth playing in the whole series, it's amazing. Not on steam though, but it is most certainly the definitive version of the game. 3 is ok at best, I had fun with it for a couple weeks and thought it was cool to make it in 3D, I really wanted to like it, but it just felt like it fell short in my opinion. Infinite just looks sad and while I did have big hopes for it, it just looks super ugly to me, and the player base is going to be gone by the end of next month, there are 1000 players for it online right now if that says anything about a game that just launched a couple days ago.

MVC2 and MVC3 are both excellent games in their own ways, and no matter which you prefer, they're easily miles better than MVCI. Sadly, MVC2 is absurdly hard to acquire nowadays since the HD ports for 360/PS3 are delisted.

umvc3 is much much better than mvci. mvci is a buggy unplayable mess.

And they are more than likely people who are extremely good at the game and will destroy you with an infinite combo, so you just watch your character bounce in the air untill the match is over. There is nothing wrong with being good at fighting games, but for anyone who isn't an expert, it's not fun to join a match and not even be able to learn from your mistakes because you will litterally get comboed from the first hit to the KO hit. You would need to find some friends to play with if you did get it to avoid this until you can learn how to do that to people hahaha! But that is presonally why I don't play fighting games online anymore, you just sit there like "when is this combo over so I can play now?"

UMvC3 is 10 times better then the new version... sadly. like others said above infinite should only be considered if you want to compete in some tournaments at a later date... but you still have other fighting games to do that.

A real shock at how thin the sequel is in comparison... also unneccessarily 60 gigs in file size and yet, has not even half the content of UMvC3 (most of that is video capture for the story mode cinematics).

odd decisions made in regards to the game... maybe a much smaller team was used to make this... got to be what happened.

I'd wait for Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom Infinite with all DLC included and junk fixed/balanced.

For me Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 is still Worth,I didn't Like the Realistic/Plastic/Doll Graphics from Infinity it is really Ugly and they change the layout of buttons(again) .The only problem on UMVSC 3 is that Online is kind of broken becouse there are Many Veterans with infinite combos and it is hard find Beginners to play more casual.

If you're into competition, get Infinite. Don't buy into the hate; it's a fine game.

UMvC3, while debatably a better game, is old and few people still play it.

If infinite isn't an option there's no harm in getting UMvC3. I bought this version when it came out and I'm honestly just getting into learning it. Sure there's a lot of veterans but those same veterans are gonna be able to do infinite combos to you on the new one once they switch over.
Depending on where you are you can still find matches on here at least every once in a while and who knows how long the playerbase on MvCi is gonna last on pc this early on anyway.

Plus you can feel free to add me if you ever wanna practice because I love fighting games and I never really gave this one a chance.
Personally I think people love this game so much they're always gonna find ways to play it. Like 3rd strike on Fightcade.

UMVC3 is over homie, just get good on MVCI, its fun with gameplay, everyone on UMVC3 is likely a convicted rapist ingame, and youll have a long time to catch up to these players.
