HOW TO FIX YOUR FIGHT STICK AND DPAD (Multiple Fixes)
IF YOU'RE PIRATING THE GAME, DON'T ASK FOR HELP.
Not only do we not support piracy (And why are you even posting here if you did pirate the game, genius?), game cracks often change the source code of the game, thus being the reason why these fixes probably don't work for you. The fix, in your case, is to either buy the game, or realize that games are a luxury item, not a necessity for living.

I don't work for Capcom, so I'm not obligated to give you free tech support for a game you didn't even buy.

NOTE: Some controllers don't seem to work for some people regardless of the fixes below. In that case, try the fixes below. If they don't work, submit feedback to Capcom directly.

There's an ongoing bug about the LB button not working for Mission mode. If you have this problem, please do not post it in this thread, contact Capcom immediately to have this bug fixed as soon as possible.

PS3 Controllers and Generic Controllers:
Just use X360CE. Literally download the 64-bit version, paste the EXE in your MvC3 folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\ULTIMATE MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 3 and run the EXE there. Then just do auto set up as it instructs. Save, close, run UMvC3.

I figured out a better solution! When you're in Big Picture Mode, go to Settings and go to controllers. Once you're there, where it says detected controller it click on your device (Mine said Razer Panthera because I have the Razer Panthera fight stick set to PS4) from there, it makes you map your inputs. Once you finish mapping your inputs, restart the game and it works! :)
If your fight stick has a switch to control D-Pad vs Analog Stick:

if your buttons work, toggle the switch on your stick for left stick, dpad, etc.
Xbox 360 Controllers:
If you're using an Xbox360 controller/fightstick and it isn't working, try making sure it isn't set up as a generic controller through Steam big picture.

Definitive fix for PS4 Controllers:

[JOYPAD] ProductName=Wireless Controller A=1 B=2 X=0 Y=3 LEFT=POV RIGHT=POV UP=POV DOWN=POV START=9 BACK=8 LT=6 LB=4 RT=7 RB=5 LSTICK_PUSH=10 LSTICK_VERT=Y LSTICK_HORZ=X RSTICK_PUSH=11 RSTICK_VERT=Z RSTICK_HORZ=RZ

config.ini is located under the following directory:
..\Users\YourWindowsAccountName\AppData\Local\CAPCOM\ULTIMATE MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 3\config.ini

Which, is clearly the case.
Not really, the game only said that it's recommended to use an Xbox 360 controller. The only people using Xbox hardware and are having issues are using Arcade Sticks or Hitboxes, which aren't the same as controllers.

Plus, the game isn't really that bad. The netcode was improved by a lot, for one. Also, everything we should've had on the initial release of UMVC3 is automatically unlocked. Wouldn't it have sucked if we had to pay for it a second time?

Also, naming and shaming is against the rules and not your job or right.
So you think that, because I made a topic on Steam, that everyone's entitled to free tech support whether they bought the game or not? Remember, I'm not getting paid for this and I don't work for Capcom. I couldn't give any less of a ♥♥♥♥ that a pirate wants help. Sorry I have some sense of self-control and right/wrong?
You could be seen as acting on behalf of valve, which opens them up to litigation, but whatever.
Nice 1990s mentality. If you actually lived in 2017 and had even a fraction of a brain, you'd understand that there are clear terms that state user-generated content does not automatically act on behalf of Valve.

Really this is all you need to see:

That has literally no relevance on this topic. That topic is regarding topics specifically made to shame people for cheating.

It's not my fault that you're a spoiled child who thinks that "sharing is caring" means "literally everyone is obligated to share their possessions and if they don't, they're breaking the law".

I made an agreement with Valve when I made an account, and every time I've bought a game, that my account is basically theirs. My account is private because I do not want to share my accout details with others. If someone, who isn't Valve, wants to use my data then they can pay me for it. I'm not helping anyone out for free.

You get it right in the 2nd paragraph right off the bat, but you are talking like an agent of another entitiy in your first post where all of the bold text is. You even use the word "we". We who?

I don't work for Capcom or Valve and am not acting on their behalf.

Brevity is something everyone appreciates, and snarkiness is a surefire way to ensure that nobody comes to your side on the issue of piracy. But again, you don't work for Capcom or Valve anyways, so generating sales isn't something you're responsible for.

All you really had to do was say that you don't condone piracy and will not help anyone who uses a pirated copy of the game. The witch hunt was both unnecessary and hurtful to the crusade you're on.

So it's okay for you to not help anyone for free, but it's not okay for me to? Nice double-standard.

Did you know that friends lists can exist on Steam? I know, it's a strange concept, right? Did you also know that there's someone who also posted on this topic that's on my friends list? It's amazing to imagine, I know.

Anyways, I'm not an agent of another entity. I tried to make it sound as clear and professional as possible so that people wouldn't just blatantly go and ask for help when they pirated the game after two people tried.

Brevity is something everyone appreciates, and snarkiness is a surefire way to ensure that nobody comes to your side on the issue of piracy.
So telling people that I don't approve of piracy and that I won't give free tech support to pirates is somehow being snarky? I don't care if anyone agrees with my opinions or "sticks to my side" on piracy, nor do I care if you do either. This isn't a topic about piracy, it's a topic about fixes. If you can't be bothered to read something, I can't be bothered to care whether or not you "need help".

Also, there's literally nothing unclear or inspecific about my post header. I literally said that I do not condone piracy and that I won't help pirates with the game. I even gave specific reasons why. You should maybe hold back on using "big boy words" for the sake of trying to sound more educated than you are.

But again, you don't work for Capcom or Valve anyways, so generating sales isn't something you're responsible for.
Again, if you'd actually use your two eyes and do a little bit of reading, you'd find the answers yourself on why I won't help people in pirating.

Gave four reasons, you only took one away from it to try and start an argument with some fat ♥♥♥♥ on the internet that you don't even know. Good job.

Do you even know what a witch hunt is? All I did was tell people that I'm not giving them support on a game they didn't buy, then provided upfront proof in case they tried to argue "omggzzzz glitch steem forums!" like all the other pirates do on Steam Discussions.

Again, this isn't a topic on piracy, it's a topic on fixing any gamepad issues. Unless you have something valuable to contribute to the discussion, rather than getting triggered because one person on the internet disagrees with your opinion, then just leave.

And I've been lenient on reporting you because I have doubts in my mind whether or not you're a troll. If you do indeed respond with off-topic keyboard-warrior attitudes, I will report your post for being off-topic.

People, if you want to play Marvel Matches Online, you must change your Download region of the steam client to any US REGION.

The game had region Lock, because the steam client has a lot of different regions to play Online.

If you live in US, try changing to another US region, thats simple, SAN DIEGO,MIAMI,NEW YORK,HAD people.

Im now 1st Lord because this info, save me to play online

Why are you posting this here? This is completely irrelevant to the topic at hand.

I'm having a bit of a weird time. I use DS4Windows and any time my controller disconnects (which is frequent despite it never happening in other games?) the game freezes momentarily and I can't use the controller unless I restart the game. Anyone got advice?

You answered your question with this:
EDIT: Also, I wanna stop having to use DS4Windows
Don't use DS4Windows lol.
but I don't have an AppData folder in my user database.
If you have a Windows PC, you will always have an AppData folder. You just can't see it because it's hidden. Press Win+R and type "%appdata%" (Without the quotes) and click OK. Win = Windows Key

Alternatively, just get the Official Sony PS4 Controller Adapter and you'll have absolutely no problems running games with it.

Hey, I'm using an x-box360 controller, but though I've made sure it isn't registered as a generic controller, it still does diddly squat with this game. It works fine with others, but here? Even my flight-controller works fyi, wheras this does not.:mdsurprise:

I'm using a Mayflash arcade stick. The controls work, but for some reason, down works the same as up. Any advice on how I can fix this?
