What are your thoughts about using a Keyboard?
So,i wanted to know your opinion about it,i mean, currently i don't have money to buy one of those Arcade controllers ( Stick / Pad ) nor an xbox controller. I got a random controller here but it is very old and some buttons aren't working properly.

I'm quite worried since i decided to go for the Keyboard anyways,in my thoughts,it is almost a pad, though,i'm afraid a mechanic keyboard would be better in this situation, but guess what,no money,no funny bunny honey.

I am hoping it is about practice, patience and persistence, since i really love this game and i've been waiting for it to come out for PC (Not knowing it was actually possible).

I tried playing an emulated version of Marvel vs Capcom 2,and i found it very hard to learn the moviments and such, using a Keyboard. Plus, the diagonals worries me as well. But since pads exists,i'm afraid it's not hard to learn diagonals and such if you practice. But still,i feel a bit worried. Same goes for dashes / air dashes and launchers.

I really want to learn how to play this game properly,so,the controller can be something tricky to deal with. ):

Let me tell you something as a guy who uses both a keyboard and a stick.

It is virtually impossible to correctly play Marvel competitively, let alone play casually, using a keyboard. The keys don't give you good execution compared to a stick, especially when you want to do 360-joystick moves as Zangief. Try playing Marvel 1 and pulling off an air combo with a keyboard. Hard, right? Keyboards have such tiny buttons that you can only do so many options, like HCs and magic series.

Marvel 2 and 3 have simplified controls so it should be easier, but in my opinion only Street Fighter and those other regular 2D fighting games are best left with a keyboard. The Marvel games are too air-based and too fast paced to play with a keyboard; you won't be able to press the keys as easily as with a stick. So I'd recommend you get a stick and see the significant difference it makes. I personally prefer you get the Hori Real Arcade Pro 4 Kai, my stick. It's pretty cheap and will get you into Evo if you know how to use it.

you can play easily with a keyboard. Just follow a hitbox layout and you're good. Plinking is easy, box jumps are easy, tks are easy. Granted your keyboard is mechanical or at least doesnt have ghosting

I see what you mean,i'll see how it will be. I studied some 'classes' made by FC Jago about most things, including frames and hitboxes. I've been watching lots of tutorials and such lately,to see how things will go.

The thing is,there are Pad users that can play normally their way. Using a keyboard is basically the same thing because, only buttons lol. Just something i wanted to add to think about. But thank you for your opinion!

He isn't talking about those type of hitboxes. He is talking about the hit box controller which is a stickless stick. The action buttons are in the stick layout and instead of a stick there are buttons as well.

On keyboard the layout will probably be asd for back, down, right and the space bar for jump.

Oh okay,i understand now. So the other buttons should be something like i ,o ,p ,´ and k , l ,ç ,~ ? (At least for my keyboard lol)

if the game M.U.G.E.N can use keyboard then im possitive this game can too
Arlanzo Feb 24, 2017 @ 6:29pm
Eh, I guess that's something you'd have to experience yourself. M.U.G.E.N is nothing compared to how MvC3 plays. I tried using a keyboard for the hell of it once for SF5 and I even struggled with that lol but who knows.

I found it impossible to play UMVC3 on my vita using analog sticks. I'm glad to play it on pc.

I'm thinking about purchasing an arcade stick for this game, as well as MvC: Infinite which is releasing later this year. I'm curious on how I'd be able to connect my arcade stick to my computer. Just plug in the stick's USB then boom? Err.. any thoughts?

It worked for me. It automatically installs the drivers right when you plug it in.

Yes. You do just that. Plug the stick into a USB port and, well, to use your phrase, "boom".

Which is, if your experience is like mine, generally followed by your PC modding impulse taking over, and forcing you to buy a new stick and buttons to improve performance.
