Hitting a wall in progression around tier 8?

Hello all, any advice for once you get to the point with yellow and pink? It seems like gaining any sort of meaningful progress in terms of pink is taking forever and is feeling like a big grind... My strategy is to gain armor/health for a bit and then get green/yellow/pink, but the strategy only seems to work for so long, and I am finding myself having to do many runs to be able to afford single pink upgrades. Any advice?

Try heading back a Tier (like Tier 7), then when you've got a few more upgrades, head to Tier 8 again.

Yeah the game nodebuster was like this. Everytime you beat a boss it progressed to the next tier, but you never have enough upgrades to last more than a couple of seconds. I usually had to drop back 2 or 3 tiers for a significant run.
