I think it's just that after you press Esc and the prompt to press it again appears, Esc key presses are ignored for a short duration. If I time it right (long enough after the first Esc, but before the prompt disappears again), the second Esc successfully skips the cinematic. I guess the delay is intentional as the whole point is not to accidentally skip cinematics.
My system is:
OS: Gentoo Linux
GPU: Radeon HD 7950
OpenGL driver: radeonsi (Mesa 10.5.0-devel git-4aec928)
This happens at both Low and Very High graphics quality, but seems to require at least 2xSSAA for anti-aliasing (didn't try higher settings) - there were no unobscured pixels without AA and with just FXAA.
The resolution selected in the launcher also changes things: with 1920×1200 (my monitor's native resolution) and 1920×1080 the unobscured pixels are on the right edge of the screen while with 1680×1050 they are on the bottom. 1600×1200 doesn't have any unobscured pixels at all.
That's good to know. Thanks for all your work to support Linux.
Nope. Only using a single monitor, and checking the config file turns up that the game IS running at the monitor's native resolution of 1440x900, apparently, so that shouldn't be the problem either. Will try a few more things before I just give up and wait for an eventual bugfix to come down the pipe. Thanks much for trying, though. I appreciate it muchly. :)
Also, I notice the config is in the user's home folder under a (hidden) .frozenbyte folder. While this used to be the standard thing to do, the XDG FreeDesktop standards have proposed putting such files under .config (and .local and .cache) to reduce home folder clutter. It would be nice if more game developers would jump on that bandwagon sooner rather than later. ;)
This Update seems to have improved using my Moga Pro gamepad to play Trine :)
But pushing the "Select" button on the pad still lets the game seg fault immediately...
It didn't help. Here is what I tried this time:
Trine -> Delete local content
Trine -> Properties -> Betas ->
enter TrineEEBetaNovember2014
Check code -> Access code correct...
Select trine_ee_beta - Patch test (there is only 1 beta in the list)
Close
"6. The game should download the update now. "
No, it won't download, because I didn't click install yet.
"If the download does not start, try verifying your game files: Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Cache…"
I can't do that, Verify button is disabled.
So I try the install button.
It asks where to install.
I click next to use the default location.
Click next again without choosing icons or shortcuts.
Download is immediately finished.
I try Properties -> Local files -> Verify -
"All files successfull verified"
And it still won't work. Missing executable.
Back to Properties -> Betas -> The beta is still selected
Could you tell a bit more about your setup (sorry to ask again, if you already did in some previous post)? We have few Moga Pros here at the office, but they don't seem to be detected at all (we've only used them for Android development). Are you the controller via USB or Bluetooth, are there any special drivers / packages installed etc.?

update . I have changed it to "run in window" option and everything is working fine! It's a fullscreen issue then.
OS X BETA & Linux BETA hotfix3

Info
Unfortunately I am not completely sure why you seem to be unable to download the correct version. It sounds like this has more to do with Steam than the game itself. Have you had trouble downloading any other games?
The instructions on our blog post were made with the assumption that you have the game installed. Steam naturally does not add any files if the game isn't.
You could try to exit the BETA (Properties → BETAS → Select "NONE - Opt out of all beta programs" from the drop-down menu), then verify your game files again if the option is available, after which you can try to enter the BETA again and possibly verify your game files once more.
If it still does not work, you could try refreshing your Steam Files (url=https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3134-TIAL-4638]instructions here[/url]). It's recommended you delete the Trine folder from steam/steamapps/common before you do this (it's possible the folder was created even though the game itself didn't download). You can try to enter the BETA again after doing this.
I hope this helped. Let me know how it goes.
Glad to hear it's working now. You could also try to set the Windowed mode too Fullscreen. Here's how to do this:
Unfortunately, some desktop environments can show their tool bars while playing in the borderless windowed mode, this can be a bit annoying. There are some extensions that can help with this. Let me know if you need help with this. :)
So far we have not reproduced any achievement issues, but we could look into this if you tell a bit more. Could you clarify what you mean by this? Are you unable to get achievements?
I worked around this bug with kill -9. Alt+F4 works too, but kill -9 feels better.
It worked pretty much out of the box.
I use it over Bluetooth in B mode (which makes it apprear as an HID).
I use Ubuntu 14.04.1 and I installed jstest-gtk, but not much configuration needed.
Under "Calibration" I changed Axis 4 and 5 "CenterMin to "0".
But it already worked without the change under Calibration,change just makes the R2 and L2 buttons work better.
The Select button does not work at all (not detected in jstest-gtk).
I hope this helps :)

I'm curious if they will provide VSR (Virtual Super Resolution, amd's implementation of downscaling, like DSR from nvidia) on linux as well. If they will so i will provide tests of it in both trine games, obviously.
