More or less.
"Trine 2 also lets you play your adventure cooperatively: locally or online, invite two of your friends to join in your adventure! Combine your powers, and find new ways to overcome obstacles, puzzles and monsters!"
Now, where does that say your friends need to buy the game as well? It is a family purchase, and now only one person can use it?
*EDIT: I do feel that if you are going to publish the thing in a physical format, while the artwork is nice, the packaging should explicitly state that only one license key is in the box... In the same vein the packaging also states "Internet connection required for product activation", not "Internet connection required for product activation and to download 4GB of game " (nevermind the additional 3GB or so for Trine, but that was stated at least). Surprises all round.
Here is a guide: http://www.maximumpc.com/how_share_steam_games_2014
Did you try it yet?
Would have taken you less time to google search steam game sharing than coming here to post about something that has nothing to do with the game itself, but steam.
Though not sure if it works for games that have online drm.
The game has local co-op, meaning if you're sitting at the same computer, you can both play with just a single copy of the game. If you want to play online, then each of you will need their own copy.
Unless a game or application specifically allows you to install multiple copies, this is just the way it is.
That wouldn't work: only one person can use a shared library at each time; if the owner of the library starts playing something, the person who was using it has 5 minutes to exit the game until it closes automatically.
Also in all honesty, are you that naive to feel that you can buy one game and register it to multiple people? 4 packs exist on steam for a reason similarly when games require third party DRM or account creation, do you also try to register them to multiple accounts? I'm assuming you are new to purchasing games because ...what you said..honestly made me cringe.
edit: i see you only have 2 games which confirms my point. Do try to be more rational when considering how companies make money. If you can register a game to multiple accounts ...hell..why doesn't GabeN connect his account to the entirety of steam? because no one would then buy games
And yeas, did google family sharing, activated it, and lo and behold, there is some fine print that does not allow you to play out of the same library at the same time.
So all in all, I am very tempted to take it back and demand my money back. Because with the exchange rate as it is, it will cost 3 to 4 times more to buy in dollars.
Very beautiful and nice game, but the platform is horrible.
It's not the platforms' fault. You could not play it on different devices (at the same time) anyway (without violating copyright laws).
Btw. the games are currently on sale on steam, i guess $4,99 (can't be sure i'm from Germany) that's a bargain, i think (though I guess you're not living in the USA)
I'm sorry to be a little harsh and tell you: you can't have your cake and share it, too.
The game is for one person (except local coop), it's like when you buy a ticket to a rollercoaster, the ticket is for one person at a time no matter who that person is, same for every game and I think it's normal.
