I could not continue since the gate is closed at the very beginning. Any suggestions?

Restart the level.
The gate should open then.

Unfortunately there's a rare bug with that gate which may occur if you've died or quit the level before finishing it or reaching a checkpoint.

Sadly, the only workaround is to restart the level from the level selection screen via the Main Menu. So avoid selecting "Resume Game" and go for "Single Player" for example if playing solo and then choose the level from the list. This should reset the level and open the gate.
