Enchanted Edition: No Sound Bug SOLVED

Hey,

for everyone who also got sound issues with the Enchanted Edition I have maybe found a workaround.

Since I had not found a solution on the web, when I started the game earlier, I decided to play the original version.

Now that I have finished the game I wanted to catch some achievements of the Enchanted Edition. So alt-tabbed out of the game and started the Enchanted Edition and to my surprise I got sound out of it. I tried to reproduce it and for me it woks perfectly. Sometime I also get sound, when I start the Echanted Edition right after closing the original version - but this doesn't work all the time.
Starting E. Edition while the OV is in background works always fine and I can close the OV when I am in main menu of the EE.

Summary

1. Start the game out of the steam folder as an admin ... don't start through the steam client.

2. Start the Original Version first and get back to desktop with alt-tab.

3. Start the Enchanted Edition like the OV.

4. Shut down the Original Version.

5. Enjoy the Enchanted Edition WITH sound!

Wow this worked, thank you so much! I'd basically given up hope of playing this game on PC again but just tried looking it up again on a whim today and found this post, and it worked perfectly! Thanks again! :D

I cant get the OV to start without triggering the steam client, even when launching out of folder, what do

Did you try following the rest of the steps anyway? I'm not sure exactly what you mean by 'triggering the steam client', Steam will of course still say that you are in-game the first time, it doesn't matter, you should still be able to launch EE from the folder while OV is open...

ok so it turns out that if you use a physical cord for your headphones the sound works

That's weird, but I'm glad you found a way to make it work

Worked for me when I prevented apps from using microphone in settings. (sorry for bad English)
