Trine 1 Local Co-Op, 3 Keyboards, 3 Mice
I'm having a really hard time getting this to work. I want to play through this game with two family members using three keyboards and three mice. I managed to miraculously get it to work once, but changing one setting seems like it screws up a dozen things. I've played around with keyboard/mice numbers 1-6 (sometimes devices show up as several in the device manager).

Anyways really disappointed in how complex this is. Feels like I need to know how to code to get this to work. Someone help.

I don't have any controllers. What can I use that is reasonably priced?

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with the setup. Unfortunately the menu is indeed quite hard to use for this, but below is something you could try.

  1. Plug in all the devices (keyboards, mice) before launching the game.
  2. Start the game
  3. Navigate to Settings → Controls
  4. Enable Multiple Keyboard and Mice (Optional: restart the game after doing this. You could try this if this does not seem to work otherwise.)
  5. Navigate back to the Main Menu (use keyboard if the mouse does not work correctly)
  6. Start/Load a game (again use keyboard for this if the mouse does not work)
  7. Press "F1" on each keyboard while in-game, and the keyboards should begin working correctly. The keyboards likely do not work if you do not press F1.

Worth a note:
  • Your mice may not work correctly in the game Menus, which means changing the default keybindings for example may not be possible.
  • It might not be possible to pair a specific mouse and a keyboard.
  • Other than the Configure Controls Menu, navigating the Menus with keyboards should work. In case you're wondering, when the game gives you an option to Accept/Cancel (for example when exiting the game) you should be able to use "Enter" for Accept and "Esc" for Cancel.

Using controllers for other players might be a bit simpler, so I'll also add that we recommend using Xbox 360 controllers, but you can probably get other controllers to work as well at least with proper emulators.

These instructions are for Trine Enchanted Edition, and we unfortunately aren't sure if you can use multiple keyboards any better in the original version.

Let me know if you have any questions. Cheers!

the f1 thing is not working for me. Every time we put the settings on multikeyboard, both keyboards start to not work anymore and mice are acting wierd but thats not the problem in game with the mice.

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately if the above suggestion didn't help I can only recommend using controllers instead, or that one person uses KB+M and others use controllers. Sometimes the models of the keyboards and mice in use may affect how well this mode works, but we don't have enough data about this to really further diagnose what could be going wrong.

an other think that could work for others is to change the keyboard number in the settings where you can bind your keys in the top right ( wich is very difficult and takes a lot of patience), but when its done it could work. I have a controller now btw
