Steam Link - Problems with two controllers?

My problem was that the game wouldn't recognize two controllers - I could get both controllers connected and working, but controlled the same character, even though two characters were "active".

My solution was going into the Steam Big Picture settings ( visual aid: http://imgur.com/e1GlYq7 ) and here ( http://imgur.com/EuDBAmQ ) and it should show you the controllers that are detected in the bottom-left. If you click on each controller that's detected, it should give you an option to name them. I THINK the issue was that both controllers had the same "name" (default as like "Wireless 360 Controller"), and so Trine was recognizing them as the SAME controller. I just changed that to "Wireless 360 Controller 1" and "Wireless 360 Controller 2" and had no more problems.

I know this is an old post, but thanks so much for posting it! My second controller wasn't working at all in any game. I read a number of forum posts stating that the Steam Link only supports one Xbox One controller at a time. I was going to give up on it and just use one of my old wired controllers, but then I found this post. All I needed to do was rename the second controller. Now it works everywhere!

You are a personal hero to me and my 5-year-old that has been wanting to be able to play Cuphead or Sonic Racing (among other LEGO-themed things) together, but I could never figure out why two controllers wouldn't work on my Steam Link.
