Does something happen when you AFK?

I'm saying this because something caught my interest in the threads today about someone saying to wait in the elevator. Well the one at 50 didn't do anything. So I tried one at 200. After around 5 minutes I left when I heard Specimen 9's theme. Does he kill you for waiting too long?

I once waited in an elevator to recover my health from very low but I was able to wait until it was full and left without incident. Must have to wait a long time.

Just tried it at 750. Took like a minute, incidentally immediately as I opened task manager to get my cursor out of the window and do something else without pausing. INSTANT DEATH.

I tried after room 750 twice, it looks like he appears if you wait too long in a normal room. He is also not an instant death, once he appears you can still move and just leave the room, he will not chase you for rooms like the others specimen, but he does at least half a bar of damage, it take two hits for a kill. He is also immune to the axe!

I tried again today at elevator 150 and after 10 minutes I got killed by specimen 9. Took a long time, you'd never reasonably die to this unless you tried it intentionally.

You're right, but I tried more or less at room 751 and 752, and it took less than 3 minutes in both. So it might take less time according with the number of your room. Who knows, it might take less than a minute near the 900.

Also, I was able to trap specimen 10 in a room and go AFK while he was pursuing me and specimen 9 didn't appear in this case. I guess the game can't handle two specimen at the same time :/

O.o Dede5885 I think 1 at a time is good enough. Can you imagine running from the "Deer Lord" look alike AND having that stupid resident evil fog? Also- I was AFK for 15 minutes, didn't run into anything. Maybe the time limit is random?

I was doing a few recordings of said game, and did discover this issue. I was in room 200 and was checking my audio to make sure my mic wasn't too quiet (as it turned out it had been.) While reviewing the footage, and tweeting to my followers, i suddenly hear a scary theme as well as monster sounds, i quickly jump back to the game to see the death screen. I just kind of stared blankly at it for a moment not sure what had happened... but i assume if you spend longer than 3 minutes AFK (completely motionless) a little countdown timer starts for when he is going to show up.... i also assume it may be a random set time per room.

haha, I know man, 1 at a time is more than enough for sure, I was just curious to know what would happen ^^
also, the fog is from silent hill, but it doesn't matter, I think the time might be random, but in both times I tried it didn't took more than 3 minutes, so I still believe that the countdown might be smaller according with your progress, or maybe it's just random, cuz I don't really know. Have you went AFK in which room? I know that the specimen can only appear after room 50, so if you tried in one of the first rooms, this would explain why he didn't appeared.

Woops! I play so many of those games they run together a bit, most recent was Resident Evil.

And after room 50, does this include room 50-that's where I tried it.

At room 100 i was out eating some food with a friend. It took about five minutes. When i came back i just saw the specimen 9's death screen. So yes you die in the elevator if you hang around without pausing the game. I am not sure what happends if you do hang around to much in a normal room tho...

Throughout the entire game, the safe rooms protect you from everyone but Specimen 9, who chases you if you wait forever in any room. The exceptions are the long hallway where he kills you if you go straight until you get stuck, and after 1000, where he finally catches up to you and Spooky makes you fight a different form of him.

I think leaving the game may or may not shorten the time by alot, but I wouldn't know for myself. And, I will try on room 50 exactly, so I'll come back if any results come out of this.

1. For some reason, the game won't let me exit the game without pausing, even with task manager and such. Therefore, it doesn't do anything. Could be a recent patch?

2. On room 50, I waited for A FULL HOUR AND FIVE MINUTES, to no avail. So, he probably just doesn't show up until after room 50 or so.
