Tips / help please versus Specimen 6

So I've reached Room 300.
I did spoiler myself by checking out the wiki before meeting that puppet dude,
but actually trying to survive him myself is proving a bit tricky..

So how do I go about trying to survive him:

1) Look at him, walk backwards to exit?
--This is really tricky for me in long rooms with lots of turning corridors..

2) Look at him occasionally & every other direction while WALKING to exit?
(how many seconds should I spend looking at him on average)

3) Look at him occasionally & every other direction while RUNNING to exit?

4) Going to the next room which is a short one --> Run to the exit door ASAP?

5) When I enter a different room
-- and not hear a chase sound ---> run as far as I can to exit, correct?
-- and hear the chase sound --> turn and try to look for him?
-- and idle at the entrance, does he spawn at the other end of the room or right behind me?


6) Since he's the type where I have to slow down and check on him, what do I do if he's paired with another specimen that actively chases me? (eg girl ghost or slime monster)
Possible to survive the combo or just give up?

7) Wiki says I can knock him out with an axe for the duration of a room..
So basically once I have the axe I can knock him out in every room he's in and not fear him anymore?

8) If I idle too much in the same room with Specimen 6 (not AFK but just moving around in the same room), will Specimen 9 appear too?

I can't help you because the puppet won't even show up for me in room 310.

Actually I didn't even notice that he stops or something if you're looking at him... I just keeped running (and with just running away I was doing just fine) until I got to one of those big rooms with this smale stages above an abyss. In this rooms i had not enough stamina and so he killed me. Just restarted the game some times untill i made it trough without getting in one of those big room.

I know what to do. Just look around you all the time and once you see him just stare at him. It can be hard. It took some time for me. But its not impossible. If you not stare at him he will hurt you.

Just get out the the room freaking fast.

Finally got through Specimen 6 and here was my winning strategy.

1. If the room is short just run through it quickly.

2. When faced with a long room always look behind you but I dont mean look in the opposite of the way you are moving. By look behind you I mean always look in the direction of the door you entered from.

3. He may rarely spawn from the door at the opposite end of the room if this happens just book it and GET OUT!!!!

Kronokill92 is pretty much right on this aspect. It takes somewhere in the vicinity of 5-6 seconds for specimen 6 to spawn in a room. In most rooms, you can make it to the next door within this period of time. Otherwise, if the room is long, you can time it in your head and at around the fourth second turn around and walk backwards a majority of the way to the next door. Just pray none of the rooms are those accursed maze rooms with the bottomless floors (especially the one that only has one path that you have to wind around to get to the next door, this one is impossible with specimen 6 on your tail).

Also, while you can use the axe to temporarily knock him out after you get it, it's using the axe on specimens that contributes to getting the bad ending.
