In case this is at all relevant, in HD Renovation, he behaves slightly differently. In that version, according to the wiki, upon facing away from him he will wait 1.5 seconds to teleport instead of 0.5, but he will also always teleport if you face him for 10 seconds straight even if you're moving, and whenever he does teleport he can now pick any random point around you, instantly dealing damage if you're not already facing the direction he'll land in. He also generally doesn't go out-of-bounds in that version, thus meaning he can't hide behind exterior walls and whatnot unlike in the original game.
Take all of that with a grain of salt because I could easily be misremembering and/or misunderstanding any part of this. For a probably much better and more reliable explanation of his non-HD behavior, I'd recommend watching Ryan J.'s "Let's Learn the Rooms! (Part 2)" video on YouTube starting around 3:55 and ending at 8:43, or if you have more time to spare, his "Everything You Need to Know about Specimen 6's Chase in Spooky's Jump Scare Mansion!" video for a much more in-depth guide.
