Can't get past the mermaid specimen

Room 900-something and onward. She's so fast and almost always seem to spawn right in your face when opening a new door. Does her spawn position change if i go back out the door again and "start over" the room? Otherwise I really don't understand how people ever got past her...

You have to stand on the crates to recover both your health and stamina, as the specimen can't attack you. Then run to the doors when your fully healed, and your stamina is full. Also you can stand on the boxes indefinitely.
