But I'm glad you did.
Another thing was the completely nonsense story. It assumed you already knew who some characters were, which CAN work sometimes but just came across as weird to me here. Then there was the thing where, out of the blue, you get transported to the future to fight a boss for no reason. Then there was the thing where, out of the blue, you get transported to hell when you die and everything is stupidly overpowered and you can't escape by dying. Then there was the thing where, out of the blue, you get transported to the past instead of the future.
A third thing was they nixed the giant boss, when that was actually the main reason I was interested in the game at all.
I guess the only other game with a souls like tag on it that I've played was Hollow Knight. Fantastic game but doesn't really have much in common with this one.
You should check out Dark Devotion. It's a doubled down 2d soulslike, where the combat and movement of your character is extremely tight designed so you have to really think about what you do. It has some rogue like elements I'm not a fan of, but the boss fights, oh my, some of those rival the best of Fromsoft's work (if they'd made 2d soulslikes, of course).
I mean if I want to play Elden Ring I'll just play that, I guess if you can't afford the game its a good alternative.
Are incomparable, ER is a top tier AAA that draw new high for open world, the first expansion is a goty on his own
-Worst input lag of any game in the genre.
- Strange freezing issues at every save point
- worst class balance of any game in the genre.
- clunky controls
- traversal between regions is painful until you can fast travel at the end.
- most enemies are poorly designed or medicore
- most bosses are poor or mediocre.
-main character is the least interesting protagonist in the genre. The character on the cover of the game is far more interesting than Sorun.
- Soldier class is completely broken. blocking is and spamming invincible frame special is S++++ tier
- level design is meh okay.
- I will admit the antagonist of the game is the best in the genre.
- the story is better than most of the games in the genre as well.
To answer you specifically, Tarnishing of Juxtia is the closest I've found to this game, though it falls short in many ways. It was worth $5 for me, but it did feel like work to get through toward the end.
