I like Aeterna Noctis, would I like this?
CUrrently playing Aeterna Noctis, and looking for more Metroidvanias/games in general like it. I have a few problems with it, but overall I'm really enjoying it.

I notice this game has mixed reviews through, so for those who enjoy DG, do the positives outweigh its problems?

That depends on why you liked Aeterna Noctis.

I never played that game, but from what I've seen of it, there's much more of a platforming focus there.

Death's gambit has platforming, but it's more for traversal and not a huge challenge in and of itself outside of maybe a couple specific sections.

The game has challenging fights for sure and the combat has some Dark Souls elements to it, so if that sounds interesting, it's worth a try. I do think some fights can get tedious though, especially if you don't know how best to fight them.

Just fair warning, the devs of this game aren't afraid to mess around some, so the game has moments that can throw you off, either story-wise or gameplay-wise (especially the secret boss). Whether it's good or a bad depends on the player. I thought it was quite cool (except the secret boss, which had an interesting mechanic on paper, but loses the novelty after the first time).

I played Aeterna Noctis and this and they are both top tier Metroidvanias - A lot of fun, exploration and story/lore. It is true that Aeterna Noctis has a strong focus on platforming while Deaths Gambit has a strong focus on combat either way they are both special in their own right - Enjoy
