Early/Mid? Game Essence Farm.

There's a decent Essence Farm available after defeating the Last Gaian. Just make sure you hit the save point and open the door to re-access the area ASAP so you don't get locked out.
It's 528 essence a loop and each loop takes about 1 minute. Didn't min/max it or anything so I'm sure it can be improved.

Better farm even earlier - right before the Forgotten Gaian, the two purple shielded foes, give a total of 300 without any essence boosts, and can be cycled with the nearby statue in like 20~ seconds.

So I tried out that farm. Only issue I see with it is you can't really safely use any essence boosts. I've started using the Noble's Essence Shear w/ Fortune Aura to double my farm so just over 1k per minute. It puts you at almost no health but there is no risk of getting hit with the Rabbit Den farm provided you have a decent aerial attack.
Conclusion: Purple Knights are higher risk higher reward but can be used by every class.
