By desing as a Souls-Like there's no Pause but some players are asking for it
Personaly i think an optional pause would be a simple solution, give an achievment for those beating the game whithout Pause on and everyone would benifit haha
It would even contribute to replayability, imagine somebody beating the game pausing and then he decides to do a "no pause " run xD
I think it's simply convenient to have a pause function. What would you do if the door bell rang in the middle of a fight?
On multiplayer games the pause function doesn't make sense, but on an offline singleplayer game I don't see a good reason not to add a pause function.
They say it's part of the challenge, if you pause mid game you would be in a "safe zone" for calming down and planing your actions while without the pause you should have more immersion putting yourself in the skin of the character being in danger all the time
I understand it , but as i said, making it optional would benefit everyone.
After you told that this was an "old discussion" I searched through the steam discussions and found that topic. I think you don't have to copy all bad point from a game that inspires you as a developper.
So I think as an optional setting as you mention it, it would be cool.
I'm refunding the (otherwise excellent) game.
I am playing this game for the first time, and you are correct about there being a pause. On an Xbox-like controller, the 'back' button pauses the game, where it will say "PAUSED" in the top left corner and cease all gameplay.
