Best Starting Classes?
From what I have heard from other people playing the game, the restore energy on dodge/block/phoenix feather/etc... abilities really aren't that useful in the long run.

So the most useful abilities that will be helpful all throughout the entire game come down to
Sentinel for 50% less gear requirements

Blood Knight for health regain when damaging opponents

or Acolyte of Death for the ability to restore broken death altars...

I have HEARD the noble only allows for unique consumables, not unique gear. If he allows for unique gear as well he might be a contender.

Thoughts? Who do you think will be the most useful late game.

I don't think it actually does...

From what i understand, the classes outside of Noble, Blood Knight, Sentry, & Acolyte just have different ways to recover soul energy, and said soul energy recovery is minimal and hardly impacts their skill use at all. On top of that you can eventually find all weapon types by playing the game.

On the other hand
Blood Knight offers health regen when you damage enemies

Sentry offers a permanent 50% reduction to all gear stat requirements

Acoylte offers more save points/resting areas throughout the game

and Noble MAYBE offers unique gear, still haven't received confirmation on that.

Sounds like there are 4 class perks that are potentially far better then a small energy gain you can get from the other class perks.

No, that's the Sentinel

Personally, I chose Acolyte because of the class abilities synergizing with the pre-order Death Scythe(though it turns out that the Death Scythe has the same dps as the normal scythe, but with a much lower FIN requirement, but I don't know how well it scales with enchantment since I can't seem to find the place where you do that...).

Started soldier and got to lvl 27. Combat is dull and boring and did no damage to bosses at all. Only beat owlking. Tried acolye and i´ve beat bulwark and gaia at level 13 so i guess acolyte it overpowered or soldier just sucks?

Soldier just sucks.
The Bloodknight, Acolyte, and Sentinel are objectively better than the other classes.

If you go Acolyte, you may want to use magic as your secondary weapon, because the third scythe ability requires a lot of INT anyways. But its totally worth it for how much damage it does.

ok thanks. Might return to soldier later, but they need to add some better movesets/combos for it to be fun.

Assassin gaining energy during rolls through attacks is very powerful on finese builds, but beyond that it is a mediocre class if you prefer spacing/blocking rather than dodging

Blood Knight is easily the best class for melee focus with the health regen effect if you are aggressive, and many bosses in heroic mode are DPS races anyway

Noble gets access to a +5 weapon very early (halberd) for 1100 shards (saves 32 shard stones) along with cheap consumables, in particular firebombs are able to destroy bosses very fast. One of his talents increases shard gain by 15% as well. With 5 int, it is better than starting as a mage, the +2 casting tome and spell blade can be found very early and the wizard ability is borderline useless.

Sentinel is very powerful and halves stat requirements to use items. It lets you equip some of the best shields very early on str builds. Parrying gives you a lot of energy, way more than all of the other classes' ways of gaining energy outside of normal attacks.

There are only like 4 shrines the acolyte of death can repair. Killing enemies to get soul energy is very strong though

I chose Noble, and having access to a +5 Halberd from the start is very very nice for a first playthrough. Granted it costs you 1100 shards, but still good.

You can kill him and get it for free.

It really seems like most 'classes' wind up much easier eventually if you start them as a blood knight and just invest your earned stat points to use the weapons and abilities you want, although some are very difficult to start if you don't want to 'waste' early points getting some extra strength for your axe. The rally potential absolutely trivializes later bossfights and you still have access to the talents for buffing air attacks 4x and secondary weapon 25% which can do absolutely insane damage on top of healing nearly anything a boss can throw at you. Acolyte might sound good for a new player but scythes take a while to build up and needing to invest heavily in intelligence to use all your skills might not be a great balance for a few extra save points you don't really need.

I'd really like to see rally placed somewhere on everyone's trees or made into an inherent part of the game, because I'm kind of dreading trying out some of the more 'interesting' classes and not starting them as blood knights.
