How do abilities scale?

Let's say I have an ability for a STR weapon. Would the ability damage increase if I leveled up STR ot INT?

abilities scale with the same stat the weapon scales for. Exceptions are the cyclone and sky crash ability, which scales with str when used with a halberd, but finesse when used with a spear.

Only the tome abilities scale with int. not sure about the 3rd scythe ability though

Abilities scale with your stat, not with weapon damage. It will deal the same amount of damage regardless of the weapons you use are +0 or +10.
