Antivirus claims there is a trojan when updating game
Just bought the game, won't let me start it until I get an update, halfway through the download of said update I get a notification from my antivirus saying 2 files are marked as a trojan trj/rnkbend.a

My antivirus is Panda Dome

I looked through old posts and consensus seems divided. Some claim it is a false positive while others said it was 100% malware. What do now? Don't know if turning it off just to risk it is worth it, but I really did wanted to play this game again. Am I better off getting a refund?

I got it from a torrent and nothing happened. I think it was from the steam game file
Replace steam installation with the crack and verify integrity
Dumb question but...what does that mean and how do I do it?

Right click the game in your library, go to properties, then to local files, and there's the verify integrity button
Also, you could've just googled it... Come on, it's not that hard, innit?
In a haste I requested for a refund and got it in less than 36 hours. Guess I could buy the game again and delete the torrented version but you right.

Gonna go educate myself about it on google lol

Thanks!

Same thing here. F-Secure antivirus said that file called "player.exe" is marked as trojan.

After verify, 241 files needed to download again and now everything working

Did you deactivated the antivirus and managed to install it without any further warnings afterwards?
ESET didn't detect anything. It should be safe

i have the same antivirus and the same file was detected as a troyan, for safety i uninstalled the game.... is weird that a steam file game has been detected like a troyan, and not only panda, i read that another antivirus detected files too, AVG, mcaffe, etc

Yeah I read that it gives a lot of false positives. Weird thing is that no other game I've gotten from steam has that issue. When I was gonna bite the bullet and let it download with antivirus off the refund came through so I didn't get the chance
Ok yeah that makes sense! The installing of the game was fine. It was until it asked for an update that it triggered the antivirus. Something about a trojan. If that's the case that's shady from whoever released the update. Sad it won't let you play without the update
