STAR WARS™ Galactic Battlegrounds Saga

STAR WARS™ Galactic Battlegrounds Saga

Tips for a beginner
I just bought this game was mostly looking for a game playable on my windows 8.1 Asus tablet. Got to say this game runs flawlessy on my tablet lol.

Though truthfully never played a RTS game that needed you to collect a bunch of resources. I read all this is is a reskin of age of empries 2 & never played a age of empires game. So wondering what are some basic tips I mean truthfully I played this game for 2 hours now & got owned on easy lol.

So I played a skirmish match against the AI on very easy & it took me like 45 minutes just to build a single solider/unit so wondering. What are some recommended tips?

Also how do you play the republic capaign in episode 2? I can play the confederacy capaign but not the republic capaign. Can only play as the republic in skirmish for some odd reason.

First start with the tutorial then work your way through the jedi missions before undertaking the sith side. Everything you need to know how to play will guide you in the tutorial aspect of the game. On skirmishes (mostly AI unless you're using local/hamachi) concentrate on advancing tech level. Depending on the game mode (deathmatch, king of the hill, etc) you will need to adjust to focusing on resources or military influence first.

If you're with a friend, trading resources helps a lot. If you're playing fresh, you will need to unlock it. Each next mission is unlocked by completing the previous available ones.

May the force be with you!

Selecting it is a buggy hit-and-miss - sometimes it'll let you select, other times not.

Beyond that, as was said, play the tutorial ;)

The tutorial is fantastic at teaching you the basics, but if you really want to dominate, there's more you need to understand. My best friend annihilated me a million times before he taught me these tricks, lol:

First off, you need resources, so getting a large workforce up and running as soon as possible is number one priority (be mindful that at the beginning of the game, you won't need as much of each resource as you will need later in the game - the demands get bigger). Think of all your buildings and units as the resources they cost. Troopers are made of Carbon and Food, other units and buildings may use different combinations, but usually one or two types of resource.

Not all resources are as accessible as others. Nova (iq: Gold) and Ore (metal, iq: Stone) are the hardest to come by, because they are not as abundant as Carbon (iq: Wood) and Food. When you run out of Ore, you'll have a hard time building walls and gates, etc, so you have to learn how to defend your base and assault the enemy without depending too heavily on Ore. My friend put it to me this way: "you need Carbon to get Food to get Nova to get Ore". Get to Tech Level 3 as soon as humanly possible, because then you can build Command Centre's right next to any resource deposit you like, and you can build a steady workforce right next it in no time. It also gives you the abililty to do research in one Command Centre while you can produce units in another.

You need Carbon to build buildings and especally important, to build Farms. Farms are the most consistently reliable way to get food. At the beginning of a game, hunting wild animals is the best option to get Food while you're raking in the Carbon. Food is important because it costs 50 Food to build a Worker (iq: villager), which can harvest just about any resource you need. This is why you need Food to get Nova and Ore. Ore can only really be mined out of the ground, but you can use Cargo Hovercraft to go back and forth from your Spaceport to other Spaceports to get a little Nova from that. The gamechanger is the Holocrons. Little sphere's with blade-like things pointing up out of them. Jedi and Sith can capture them, and when you garrison these into a Jedi/Sith Temple, it generates Nova. Capture all five and hold them for long enough, you can win the game.

Otherwise, you can use the Spaceport to buy resources if you're desperate or if there's none left on the map, but the transaction is usually a ripoff, so you'll waste a lot to get what you need if you use this feature. Use it sparingly, and depend on more efficient methods to stabilise your economy.

Also, many buildings only run on 25% efficiency (unit creating speed, research speed, etc) unless you put a Power Core near them. This might be why you were trying to create units and it was taking forever - your enemy could produce them 4x faster than you!

...

As for what units to construct, the units in this game are ridiculously specialised. I'd love for there to be a mod where each unit wasn't so badly scissors-paper-rock-ified, and each could be more versatile. But, it is what it is, so we have to work with what we have.

Get to know what each unit can and can't do in terms of which type of unit it's most suited to fight against, and which unit it's weakest against. Units all have different abilities, so keep those in mind and make sure to build an army with a nice distribution of all kinds, but at the same time, be mindful of what they cost, knowing that Nova and Ore run out quickly, or are hard to get hold of later down the track. Rely more on units that are made of Carbon and Food. Be mindful of how research can give your armies better attributes. Your enemy AI will be conducting research, so numbers don't always secure the victory in a battle.

...

The last piece of advice turned the tables for me when my friend taught it to me: gain as much control of the map as you can, and do it as quickly as possible. Whoever controls the map has control of the resources, and that's the most crucial thing to securing a victory and getting the drop on your enemies. On the flipside of that, having little control of the resources will severely cripple you, and you'll be left mostly helpless when the players who do control the resources come and bash you.

Spend resources on what will make you more resources, and don't be conscientious about your units dying - they are designed for fighting, and they knew what they signed up for! Plan well and be bold, but wise in your decision-making.

Grab and secure rescources as quickly as possible, do not delay doing that.

Right at the start if there is free food like berries or banthas then grab them without delay. Putting Banthas etc in an animal nursery will give you a steady supply of food like no other for the whole game, and requires nothing except a power core. Quite often I send my scout out to steal banthas from enemy territory. A map that has large groups of them...grabbing as many as you can in the first 10 mins of the game will give you a huge adavantage. Food surplus means you can churn out units and make early upgrades and advances in tech before your enemies.
Thanks for the tips!
