He aquí una crítica hecha con las tripas.

"Transport Tycoon" (1992) fue un gran juego. Un simulador de una compañía de transportes que, consumiendo unos recursos mínimos y cabiendo en un disquete de 1.44 MB, te garantizaba horas de entretenimiento.A su cabeza estaba Chris Sawyer, un programador que se echó sobre las espaldas las numerosas horas de programación para crear aquella pequeña maravilla.

Doce años después, Sawyer intentó repetir la experiencia con este aborto, y la salió la gata gato. Porque "Locomotion" es un juego malo de narices, lo que en principio no parece tener ningún sentido porque no es más que un "Transport Tycoon" remozado. Y lo digo, no sólo por los diversos bugs de los que adolece y la mala integración con los nuevos sistemas operativos, sino porque la propia interfaz y la propia forma de entender el juego ha sido alterada.

Así, donde antes era intuitivo construir y destruir elementos, ahora tenemos que lidiar con un proceso algo más complejo, más detallado, pero también menos inmediato, lo que implica volver a aprender. Y a aprender para peor.

Sawyer, sencillamente, ha dañado la idea original. "Transport Tycoon" se jugaba de forma casi inmediata, pero "Locomotion" ha enfilado los derroteros de una mayor complejidad que no era necesaria. De esta manera, el juego, no sólo no ha sido capaz de adaptarse a tiempos mejores, sino que ha adoptado una forma de gestión que supone un paso atrás.

Para colmo, el juego supuso una ligera mejora gráfica respeco a su antecesor. Pero hablamos del año 2004. A día de hoy, sin embargo, se ha quedado desfasadísimo, dando pie a problemas con las resoluciones y a una estética que carece de cualquier encanto de antaño.

Para esto mejor haberse quedado quieto. "Transport Tycoon" es muy superior a este lavado de cara, aun cuando sea más simple.

Lo siento por ti, Sawyer, pero te quedaste fuera de juego en el 2004.

Interfaz bastante incómoda, que provoca errores como cuando estás editando una ruta y quieres abrir una estación para vez que acepta/produce.

非常不建议买这个版本，去买GOG版。这个版本没打补丁，你会发现在出现岔路时你的车辆乱跑根本不听路径点指挥。另外CD版补丁是打不进去的，不认。
游戏是神作，就是没创意工坊和修改默认车辆可惜了。（游戏里的E8内燃机车最高速度是错的，改也没法改）
I don't recommend to buy this Steam version of Locomotion, go to GOG and buy it. This version is without patch, so you will find your vehicles choose the wrong way when running through a junction. Also the original patch for the CD version cannot be installed into Steam version.
Nice game though. It would be better if it has a workshop, or able to edit the vanilla vehicles (as the wrong max. speed of E8 locomotive).

I really like this game... I spent a lot of hours in my childhood on this game. But Steam version is horrible... can't change the screen size, game crashes if I connect a second screen to my PC etc.

After years of playing OTTD, the quality of life improvements it has makes Locomotion really dated. It's way too hard to upgrade roads, can't clone vehicles, etc.

Fun, but needed better UI, even for 2004.

Works on Steam Deck, just change the resolution and grab a mouse.

Really wanted to like this game since I enjoy Chris Sawyer's other games (TTD and RCT) and like train management games in general. However I can't get over the clunky game play. It is much easier to quickly lay down tracks in OpenTTD and place signals then in Locomotion. It seems like this game seems to focus on single track / point to point rail networks as thats a lot easier to do in this game. Other then a more RCT UI / artstyle look, Locomotion feels like downgrade from OpenTTD.

There are a lot of scenarios / maps to play on which if your into that is nice and have to give credit to since some people don't like just random map go figure out your own goals.

There is OpenLoco which is nice to be able to turn off AI companies, high resolution support and much more.

There are less clunky train / rail network games like OpenTTD, Transport Fever 2, VoxelTycoon, Mashinky, heck even Factorio. But if you can find a sale for Locomotion for about a dollar then give it a shot but know that your fun will not last.

This game is another one that have been pushed onto Steam as a non working old product.
Nicely done to get a little bit of extra cash, not so nice for the one who buys it.
What this game does, especially for those with 3 screens in Nvidia Surround OR Eyefinity is that the game will run in a tiny window on your center display.
How tiny? Well think no bigger than an icon on your desktop, you can forget changing the resolution or doing anything with this.

Now you cannot change the game's own settings either, because they are stored in a CFG file that isn't in a human readable format, meaning you can edit it in your favourite text editor, but don't expect it to work afterwards.

Get it on GOG. The Steam game files are NOT useable/moddable by modding tools like Locotool or the Wrapper for Locotool. OpenLoco seems to work, though.

I've played some of Chris Sawyer's games, and I must say. He's made better games. The AI is so stupid, it makes the game near-unplayable. Sure, looks better than OpenTTD but damn, if you're looking for a good time, don't look here.

Of course, this game might be very nostalgic to some. But unless you get some of those childhood vibes from this, don't buy it.

I loved this game and hated I could not play it any longer because it would not load on my current PC. So I paid the 5 bucks thinks I could play again. Nope! the game will not play from steam. You can download a free version that doesnt work like the version but never the less short of works. The free version has support and updates. The steam version doesn't. Save yourself the 5 bucks and dont buy from steam. I would feel better if I could get my money back but that doesnt seem to be an option.
