So this is just a re-release of an old game on Steam.
This game is a classic, I already have it on GOG, will probably pick it up here in a sale though. I also have it boxed, and I have my old TTD disks (although I think they may be unreadable at this point.)
People aren't going to buy this game for the latest transport sandbox, they're going to buy it for sentimentality. It is about time it got to Steam.
For instance you can chuck down a straight railway really easily in Locomotion but in OpenTTD making bridges and tunnels is literally just like changing track type.
It's more of a challenge if you like model railways than logistic simulators, but if you prefer just to manage vehicles and have things happen with no real worry for design then OpenTTD is your thing.
I do agree that (NOW, 10 years later -- mind you), that OpenTTD is better.
Now, too complex for the minds of younger gamers who didn't grow up with it and are accustomed to games that spoonfeed you everything... Absolutely.
And the comparison OpenTTD vs Locomotion is moot, considering the original Transport Tycoon Deluxe was a much better game than Locomotion. Even if OpenTTD was buggy back in 2004, the original was still available.
I advise anyone against buying this game, as I mentioned before, it got a 59% metacritic score for a reason.
I can still feel the immense dissapointment I had with this game to this day.
