That Chris Sawyer, then made an updated version of his own game - I think that is fair :)
FYI: He is also the creator of RollerCoaster Tycoon - so in my book the guy is pretty cool.
My point was you made it sound like he was "stealing" or just coping OpenTTD, when they build their entire game on his :)
To the OpenTTD teams credit, they have expanded and added a lot of new valuable features to the core game over the years.
So not debating if the game is good or bad, or what Chris Sawyers intention were when he released it. Just the origin/history of the games - which I find important in this case :)
Side note: It seems OpenTTD is actually coming to steam on the 1st of April. So I hope this makes everybody happy, I am :D
You realize this is exactly why they do this, right? It is a cash grab. It's playing off peoples nostalgia. Will some people be grateful? Yeah, but that doesn't mean it isn't a cash grab. There are many open source options that are free and will never be lost, some even constantly updated by a broad community of enthusiasts.
Just because we disagree with OP - no reason for name calling.
