VR mode 90 Hz
Is there a way to achieve 90 fps in 90 Hz VR HMDs?

Basically, (1) try changing the default runtime from WMR to SteamVR in the Developer settings in the SteamVR overlay and see if that helps. (2) The low framerate might be because the "recommended" resolution the WMR is telling the game to use is too high. You can try setting a custom eye resolution to make sure it's rendering at something reasonable.

Also, double-check you have the latest drivers for your HMD.

I don't have a WMR device to test on at the moment, so I'd appreciate it if you could let me know if any of this helps. Thanks!

90 Hz should be the default for Rift and Steam VR HMDs.

Are you playing the Oculus Quest version?

I have the HP Reverb G2 (Windows Mixed Reality) and I play the SteamVR-Version. What can I do to solve the problem?

In that case, the framerate should be determined by what you have set in SteamVR. So you can double check that first.

If you have it set at 90 Hz, but the game can't consistently hit that framerate on your PC, then Steam VR will automatically drop the framerate and reproject the missing frames. Does your PC meet the min specs for VR mode?

My RTX 3080 should handle the game well. WMR Devices behave differently in SteamVR. There is no Motion Reprojection like with Valve Index or HTC VIVE Pro 2. WMR-Devices like the G2 just get the fps the system/game can render, no matter how unconsistent this would be. A proof for that is that the G2 is a 90 Hz device and 90/2 not equals 60.

In SteamVR Home as well as every other game or app works with 90 fps without any issues. I have tried to lower the render resolution to like 25 % but this is not causing the problem.

The frametime is as low and consistent as it could be with a light game as Thumper is for my system.

I would appreciate if we could determine why the game is not working with 90 fps. After this I would like to publish a tutorial on my YouTube channel newVR.tech. Thank you.

[Sorry for these many posts but there was "a network error" within SteamVR. Idk why I had to split my post into this manye pieces. Never happened before :) ]
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Thank you. Indeed, that was the "solution". Forcing SteamVR runtime to be the standard even with a WMR Device has helped.

It would be nice if you could make changes to the game that WMR runtime works as well as 60 vs. 90 Hz is night/day difference in VR.

If you need help, I can test any updates for you before releasing them to the public if you would like to.

Thanks.
