VR sense of scale is off
There's something up with your rendering such that what should be big, intimidating, looming scenes (the inverted pyramid, bosses, pretty much anything in the distance) appear to just be small projections on a flat surface not terribly far out in front of you. Nothing feels like it has any depth until it gets fairly close. It's like the "distant" parts of the scene aren't actually far away in 3D, they're just shrunk down to fake perspective so that they'd kind of look that way on a 2D display.

You've got a really beautiful game here, so it feels like a shame that it doesn't quite manage to have the visceral impact in VR that it could. Is this something you might be able to fix?

Thanks for the feedback. We did what we could, including adjusting the scale of certain bosses and other objects specifically for VR mode. I don't think there's anything technically wrong with the stereoscopic rendering. It's more that the 3D effect doesn't work as well for objects far away, at least based on our experience.

I talk a bit more about it at the end of this thread: http://steamcommunity.com/app/356400/discussions/0/154644045361598733/#c154644349174036787

I have to say i didnt experiance this. From playing on TV then going to VR everything felt so much different. When the end of level boss comes into view it really is hair raising 'He is so much bigger and intimidating', he is huge comapred to how he appears on a TV screen.

I am new to VR so maybe i am seeing it differently

It's conceivable that the difference compared to other games is just the lack of intuitive scale references, I suppose. Great work regardless!

I agree with Ralith's original comment. To me the first 3 feet of track extends away naturally, but the track at it's most distant and the bosses only seem 5 feet away (and not imposing at all). I'm using Oculus CV1, but I think I'll stick to a flat screen - love the game but in VR I'm finding the mismatching perspective & depth nauseating :(

A depth slider maybe? (or does that not make sense technically)

For me all the bosses did feel far away and any object placed sufficiently far enough won't give a sense of 3d-ness but the 3-12 boss in particular looked like a flat video infront of the 3d track and it did look like it was closer to the view than the others. I absolutely loved the way that boss looked but it did pull me out of the experience a bit.

The depth seems fine to me on the CV1, I'm up to lvl 5 and seen nothing that makes the perspective seem broken. Maybe the people experiencing issues need to check their IPD settings just in case they aren't correctly calibrated?
