You can mostly never get far in most of these games unless you buy DLC. Free versions is usually useless.
Call F2P for playable demoes which never will get a final release.

BTW: This simple MS game with all DLC costs 3-4 times as much as Grand Theft Auto 5!

None of the unit packs are even remotely required to finish the two world maps. Or at least they weren't in the phone/tablet version.

No one is forcing you to buy anything! That being said, not being able to get single units with medals ingame hurts it quite a bit.

The main bone of contention is in the phone versions you could get the extra units without buying DLC. Add in how much care this was ported with (resolution options are a seperate options screen on the title screen which still says "tap screen").

The game looked kind of interesting, I'd have considered buying it for between $2 to $5. That is however buying the whole game, not $5 + $100 of DLC.

It doesn't even matter if there are DLCs or not, it's made impossible without medals, i mean there are missions where there are 10 enemies at your base, while you had time to build like 1 or 2 units who die before they can really do anything. Not even leveling up helps there.

It will be very hard to play this game without DLC. I did buy a Modern Army pack for 5 bucks, and now it is very playable. That being said, the mobile version is infinite better because you can buy single units with medals. Not possible in this version.

there is too much hate around this game and the medals system gone...I didn't buy any DLC and I didn't found any problems in the first 2 worlds (after upgrades).
If you don't like to pay for support SNK don't do it (or just buy metal slug 3 - X) :P

I just finished world 1 without dlc. when 10 enemies directly come at you its not necesarily a problem. you have enough time to get some units out yourself. you just need to upgrade your base so you get more ap and its easilky doable without any medals so far. and i havent even fully upgraded my troops yet.
