Shadow of Mordor vs. Shadow of War in 2024
I'm feeling a craving for "small open world" games, and I loved Shadow's Nemesis system, so I'm trying to decide which one to play. I've played about 20 hours of each, but think I enjoyed War slightly more due to the greater variety of environmental traps (e.g. Ghul and spider nests).

Let me know what you mean by "physically-reactive" when you get a chance. I had not come across that term before.

I'm thinking a game like Prey with a large amount of physics objects, that make you feel as though you are physically present in the world.

In the case of Mordor / War, it would be the environmental traps such as Ghul nests or grog barrels.

Oh, yes. Physics and environmental interaction is in most cases not even as good as it was 20 years ago.

At this point, I would settle for both Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War, because both games have relatively small open worlds compared to similar video games like Witcher 3, which on the other hand has a massive open world that can feel overwhelming.

Shadow of War is said to have refined the nemesis system as well as the overall game-play of its predecessor Shadow of Mordor, plus one gets a fitting conclusion of Talion's story, which I do not wish to spoil as it is better you find out for yourself.

In fact, one can get both games for rather cheap at the moment. I suggest you go for it. You'll be in for a treat.

The offer will end today, so you may want to take advantage of it.

I've played both, and am trying to decide which one to replay. I finished Mordor, I did not finish War.

That's up to you. Personally, I'd give both a replay.
