Impossible Orc

So I have a Captain who is immune to everything. Supposedly he is vulnerable to fire, but blowing up barrels next to him does no damage. He is also supposedly vulnerable to executions but he has an execution counter and vault adaptation.

Wat do?

Seems a shielder slayer.

Try to hit from behind before he adapts, and dont chain the executions or he will quickly understand (if you can gound him and use fury punchs thing or my beloved Gllaive you can gain some time).
Of course if you have an orc with you it could be easier.

You exploded the grog in front of him? Better do this when they arent protected by the shield. Basically behind them or in their sides.

I am unfortunately playing the dumpster fire expansion, where glaives, fury punches, ground attacks, and orc allies were decided to be too much fun. And even when exploded behind him a quad barrel stack still does no damage.

Eltariel DLC? Generally the challenge captains there are meant to be puzzles that require a particular skill or gear interaction to defeat. There's a gear set in another area that specializes in fire damage and effects, which is probably what it's aiming towards. The challenge captains aren't really designed to be taken in sequence as soon as you reach their area.

This wouldn't happen to be the fight against Gubu the Snowflake, would it?

Yep that's the one. How does the fire set help? Talion would have this chump slapped down in a hurry but this fire set doesn't actually inflict fire damage.

Fire set bonus 2 pieces: Elven Light sets enemies on fire instead of blinding

Fire Chaser's Dagger: Light Trap sets enemies on fire

Fire Chaser's Armor: Shield unleashes a fiery explosion when you are attacked


Alternatively, you can do what I did without any of those items: There's a little ledge in the cave where you fight Gubu. Just run up there, leap off the edge, and Talon Strike into the ground next to him. He'll get stunned and tapping attack will knock him down, whereupon you can execute without him countering.

I ended up beating him by using the "Fire explosion when you are set on fire" item and walking into the nearby fire. The trick was that I had to wait until Muzu the Snowflake did his taunt animation. During the taunt animation he isn't immune to attacks.

Additional question: can you fulfill the item challenges with Talion?

No, unfortunately Talion can't contribute anything more than legacy skills to Eltariel. Since Eltariel's the one holding the particular items, she's the only one who can complete the upgrade challenges.

And yes, a few of them are kinda terrible. There are tricks to some of them, but... Yeah.
